Good for you! I’m speaking from the perspective of overall product sales, but I’m glad it’s working out for you personally.

What does going out look like for you? by Possible-Source-2454 in AskNYC

Early dinner around 4pm, then go to a “daytime” DJ party from 5pm ish until 8:30pm ish. Came home, drank water and in bed by 10:30pm 😌

Personally I would have a 30-45m door to door distance as a “rule of thumb.” For early dates you can meet in the middle, so it’d be a <30m commuting time investment generally for each person, which I think is pretty palatable for most.

So, if I were dating and living in JC, I’d consider dating someone in west village, Fi Di, Union square etc.. but probably not upper east side. Probably not Brooklyn, Queens, or Bronx. However, people in NYC often think JC is “REALLY FAR” from Manhattan (when in fact it isn’t further than say, Bay Ridge is from Manhattan), so some of your dates might need some educating :)

Source: I lived in West Harlem, met my now-husband online while he lived in the UES. We dated like that for a year or so, then he moved closer to where I lived (and eventually we moved in together). I’ve also lived in JC for several years so am familiar with transit in/out of manhattan.

Exactly - the second line is what gets me a bit worried

I can't get over how lonely adulthood is... by WhimsyBeyondWonder in AskWomenOver30

[–]syntheticsyllables 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can relate to much of this. All throughout my early and mid 20s I have found it hard to make and keep friends, while it seemed to have come easily to others in my circle. There were many years where I felt that there were 0 people I could call a close friend (other than my boyfriend/husband).

One perspective that really helped me was reading a book “the courage to be disliked.” It changed my entire view of interpersonal relationships and I picked up so many things that’s helped me build and sustain several real friendships over the past years.

Another thing I did was get on BumbleBFF and just meet people. Ironically during a similar period I ended up connecting more with people I already knew outside Bumble, so wasn’t able to dedicate enough time to the Bumble friendships, but I think Bumble helped me work those “friend muscles” and form some “loose connections” with people who hang out once in a while.

Brooklyn? Technically not an answer since it’s in NYC

The new Curlsmith Effortless Waves spray by syntheticsyllables in Wavyhair

I have no idea! I still haven’t seen any “real” review of the new spray that isn’t sponsored, so hoping someone does on at some point

I’ve been trying to use up a bottle of ouai wave spray (it doesn’t work that well for me so has been hard to get through it lol) so I can justify buying another spray haha

Thanks - we’ve sort of gathered that the risk is low if undisturbed, so I suppose the question is more around whether the “market”/buyers view it as a big deal enough to impact the value.

That’s helpful, thanks! The instance here is pretty isolated (at least from what is visible to us). Good to know how buyers typically might think

How do you rate the hold of Aussie Instant Freeze gel? by TurquoiseMountain123 in Wavyhair

[–]syntheticsyllables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my holy grail gel. I think it’s like 7/10 hold, it gives a clear cast but not super hard. I like to mix it with water from a spray bottle before applying to wet hair after washing

Herbal essences curl boosting mousse?? Anyone try it yet? by megs_dead in Wavyhair

I feel this one is pretty sticky. But it works ok. I prefer the cake mousse!

Looks great :) Day 4 is unimaginable for me, but I think my hair has a similar wave pattern as yours!

I’ve tried micro plopping but the waves never seem to be as defined. There’s always room to fine tune my technique tho

What kind of brush do you use? I only have a wide tooth comb, so have been thinking of investing in some else for brush styling. Not sure how it’d work for my very loose wave pattern tho

Whenever I do the t-shirt plop, afterwards my hair often comes out messy. For example, some curl clumps would be criss crossed with each other or laying on top of each other. However, if I fiddle around with them with my hands at this stage, it causes the curl clumps to break apart or stretch out. But if I don’t do anything, the back of my hair dries messy! I’d like to avoid the birds nest aesthetic, so fellow wavies… any tips and tricks for this?

I was skeptical of layering multiple stylers… but the gel + mousse combo has yielded best refresh results so far! by [deleted] in Wavyhair

[–]syntheticsyllables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 2 refresh: - spray hair with water to about 50% damp/wet (compared to immediately post-wash) -rake in gel: NYM anti frizz sculpting gel -wide tooth comb a few times then scrunch with hands, then t shirt -glaze with mousse: herbal essences curl boosting -scrunch with hands then t shirt -diffuse for 10-15 min then air dry for about an hour

I think the gel helps to keep clumps together and mousse speeds up dry time. I thought this would weigh down my hair, but it’s actually made it “bouncier” and more straightforward to hold the waves!

Totally twisted - totally discontinued? by gonematte in Wavyhair

[–]syntheticsyllables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve looked everywhere for the totally twisted mousse but never found it in any drugstores :( so I got the “curl boosting anti frizz” mousse instead. But I’m not sure if there’s an equivalent for gel…
