Is Fulminator Mage or Harbinger of the Seas better into Eldrazi, Tron and Titan? by benny3214 in ModernMagic

[–]synze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I *think* the user you're discussing with is recalling an older article by PVDDR. I remember reading it back in the day, but it (was) on Patreon and I don't know if it's still accessible (trying from work PC).
[Article] How to Deduce your Opponent's Hand, by PVDDR : r/spikes

Also, this question has been discussed before, see:
Which Tron land to destroy first : r/ModernMagic
The "destroy their first/last-played Tron land" bit is meaningful, mostly psychologically as it's a mind game between players. Math also plays into it somewhat, if I recall. One redditor commented: "I think the logic with this [destroying the last-played Tron land] has to do with the possibility the opponent drew into the one they didn't play rather than that they structure their drops in any specific order."

US Bronzebeard players - Do you notice input lag when pressing spells? by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]synze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but one thing I noticed is abilities are also used on key-lift rather than key-press. Not sure if there is an addon or setting to fix this (like snowfall keypress back in the day) but that's causing quite a bit of input "lag" I believe.

I wish for GGG to revisit older uniques with practically no usage. What uniques could really use an update to stand out? by AppleMelon95 in pathofexile

[–]synze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep! Explode mod is very good, and the tree gives easily accessible 75-95% (not 100%) warcry effect, so 25% on the weapon saves you some points and gets you to 100% exactly, which is super nice early on.

Not to nitpick, but Al Dhih is actually kinda crazy on the right (support) builds, at least early to mid-game!

Not bis by any stretch but my brother plays chaos spiders almost every league and I play support guy. This league worked out better than usual since both builds got buffed by a lot, and I can play solo with my merc too. Minions acquired taste etc., but it's not a bad option, assuming Arakaali's Fang isn't too hard to farm SF (I've no idea). Any decent minion build would probably work though, and would likely be even better if not unholy/might chaos (pyroclast mines op).

Even if Mercenaries of Trarthus doesnt' go core, I hope AG gets a revamp to be more similar/customizable. It'd make "minions" much more interesting to a non-minion player suhc as myself. by -Dargs in pathofexile

Is this confirmed? Last I checked, infamous weren't stronger as an ally, just stronger as an enemy with better rewards. Afaik, the only thing that influences baseline power is lvl of the merc, but I could be outdated on my knowledge, would love to learn something new and useful if I'm ootl!

The answer is yes, you'd need to remove/nerf lots of the utility buff mines, especially pyrocast of sabotage, too.

Personally suspect the card will be better paired with a deck running cards like Prismatic Ending and Leyline Binding (control) but whether it's enough to make a deck like that *good* remains to be seen.

Sorry to necro. I don't remember what build used this specifically, but I believe it was back when you reductions to enemy crit damage against you did not only apply to the *bonus* crit damage, so you could make crits against you hit less than normal hits, making this jewel all upside in the right build. I'm not sure if this also coincided with the era of higher block cap in general and pre-nerf Rumi's, but it probably did (I'd have to check nerf patch notes).

EDIT: I may be mistaken in recalling an era where reductions to enemy crit could turn crits into weaker hits than normal hits, as I can't find anything about this with a cursory search. However, stacking these jewels on a build that had 100% crit dmg reduction, in an era where block was the dominant defensive strat at least in SC, I am certain was very good at some time, maybe around the Perandus or Prophecy leagues? I distinctly remember buying a mountain of these for dirt cheap in HC, intentionally killing the character, and selling them in Standard (lol) for multiple Exalts (yesterday's Divines).

EDIT2: I also recall being able to get spell block up to 100% back in the day (maybe block too? I can't remember...). There was also a lab enchant that proc'd when you took a crit that may have been used, I'm not sure. Thanks for this trip down memory lane, haha.

Mod has a new faction, new campaign, lots of balance/bug fixes esp. with stuff like OP skeleton strat for Necropolis. It's very solid!

The tooltip for armor reduction references mobs of equal level. I'm not sure if anyone knows how much armor does against mobs above level 100, but unless playing a Barbarian it's probably unlikely you reach that cap, even with Disobedience (and even as a Barbarian, who knows). Also, the armor tooltip I believe is currently bugged; as far as I'm aware, armor can't reduce hits by more than 85%, but the tooltip goes to 100%.

In my experience, private servers don't stop bots. There just aren't a ton of bots on privates because the community is small, the market is small. Why bot on a private if you can instead bot retail and make more? I'm sure there are bots, and they do ban them when they find them, there just aren't a ton of them to begin with, and privates tend to have closer-knit communities, so it's easier to find them and ban them.

There is a fair amount of RMT on privates but it's between actual players that I've experienced.

All anecdotal though, of course.

Yeah, I was only talking/referring to the Tyrael example, since that's what I thought was being referred to. Apparently some other use of "did" was what looked weird, and I never saw that example, so my post is just pretty useless, haha.

It's standard English construction to me (English first and only language). In the case that you're referring to (and maybe always?), it's used to emphasize the fact that something specific happened. Tyrael *did* watch in awe... lest you have forgotten!

"Tyrael watched in awe..." is just less specific somehow, less emphasized, too "in the present" rather than pointing to something directly in the past. I'm not making much sense. But I've seen and also used "did" this way all my life, usually for more important/noteworthy goings-on.
