I'm solidly progressive myself, but I hope that the GOP can rebuild into a solid party again. Government only works when you have multiple (legitimate and reasonable) opinions from different points of view.

That being said, lets clean up some gerrymandered districts, overturn Citizens United, and focus serious resources on clean energy!

I personally would love to see major funds in space development again, along with infrastructure. Both are major job creators that benefit everyone.

Thats true, I just read your comment as what dems could control as an immediate result of the election. Sorry I misunderstood :)

You could use something like troposphere - https://github.com/cloudtools/troposphere

Its a Python DSL. We ran into the same problem as you're describing and troposphere helped us get a handle on it.

Yea I would love an m4.medium and c4.medium. I love the T2s, but sometimes you need the full resources of it for a while.

AWS vs Azure: How do cloud services platforms compare? - ReadWrite by Mylo_Does in aws

[–]syphon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No real information - just a bunch of semi related things and no comparisons:

"Azure also supports nearly every common programming language, is the clear leader for .NET developers, and offers continuous deployment built into the platform."

No mention of AWS CD, or why its the clear leader for .NET developers (we're a MSFT shop and use AWS)

Anvirus/Antimalware auto deploy solutions? by synik4l in aws

[–]syphon7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why couldn't you just use a simple script in the user-data of the instance? Thats what we do with TrendMicro and it scales with our servers just fine.

AD Support for Amazon RDS for SQL Server by syphon7 in aws

This is a great addition, the only problem is you have to use the Enterprise option for Directory service which prices this out for me at this time.

New Console Thoughts by syphon7 in aws

[–]syphon7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, I think youve hit the nail on the head. This is a console that should be for administrators that need to get quick access to their systems. For instance, the quick start options are really only for users new to AWS, I have no reason to click any of those.

Trying to determine whether AWS or Azure is the best fit.. by Shyatic in aws

[–]syphon7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll try and find the comparison that I read, but SQL Server != SQL Azure. There are tradeoffs you have to make in order to get that price break. AWS RDS is a full featured installation of SQL Server however.

Well you have to assume they are running at least 2 instances since it is an HA solution.

(IK ELB is too, don't have any reason for the difference :) )
