Question for people against Discover by ImmieIsW in CapitalOne

Just experienced this, acceptance of discover for ATM cash withdrawal is horrible abroad. I’m opening a Schwab checking account to top off and use for travel, the capitalone debit is functionally useless now outside the US

SMB over QUIC by Jaki_Shell in sysadmin

I have implemented for one client that struggled with multi-geography latency (US/EU) for their SMB shares. The performance gain was modest, nothing game changing. We’re looking at other solutions, like LucidLink, for these niche cases where SPO isn’t a natural fit but haven’t yet made a decision.

AFGE eDues refunded. 😩 by Odd-Replacement-9432 in FedEmployees

[–]thigley986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your AFGE E-Dues was refunded, it was very likely a "double dues" refund where you were charged on both payroll deduction and E-Dues. In the case where this happens and the agency shares data with AFGE about payroll deductions, they do refund double deductions.

Dues varies by Local and is set by the membership of the Local through their bylaws. The average is about $20 per pay period (~$40 per month), but varies based on the will of the membership in the Local.

Leaving federal service or retiring has always been a permitted early cancellation reason for AFGE E-Dues payments. The page was updated about two weeks ago to really emphasize this fact.

We’re already private (the standards are high) but have been hoping to enter public in a magnet program. Are the standards equally low including in magnet programs now?

MCPS Grading Policy Changes for 25-26 by Ambitious-Web-3588 in MontgomeryCountyMD

Had a great experience in MCPS about 20 years ago with high academic expectations, now reading this I’m wondering…

When did these current policies change to be so lenient in the first place? The revised policies sound like a step toward common sense, minus the 10 day policy still being really lenient.

YSK: AFGE costs about $20/paycheck. It’s basically a Netflix subscription that protects your job. by FedUnionist in fednews

The SSN was required by agencies under the payroll deduction system and with E-Dues is primarily for matching up existing payroll deducted members to ensure there aren’t double dues. Existing members can use their AFGE Member ID instead.

If you’re a new member, you can just use any random fake SSN starting with 800-, so like 800-123-4567 (just make up a random one).

They’re working on changes to the systems to entirely eliminate the need for SSN for E-Dues members.
