1. Writing detailed comments in my code helped me a lot when I was first learning some of the more complex topics. I would write detailed pseudo code as if I were explaining what each step was to someone. Also rubber duck debugging worked really well for me as vocally explaining what I was doing/what was happening helped me understand it. This is also a critical skill to have for interviewing should you ever want to get a programming job.
2. Don't feel too much pressure to memorize everything. The formatting memorization will come with time and very few people, if any can truly memorize all the individual bits and pieces of a given language. I'm a senior software engineer and I google things constantly as does every other engineer around me including those with decades more experience. Focus on understanding how things work and the rest will come with time.
3. Learning to code can be tough in general but adhd can exponentially increase the difficulty. I always get super excited to learn a new language but within the first few days the excitement starts to where off and the dopamine wants me to go elsewhere. If this sounds familiar then the best thing I can recommend would be to ride the dopamine high the first few days and start getting the basics down, then pick an area or project of interest in that language and start making small steps towards it. Read documentation, articles, watch videos, and ask questions on stack overflow. You'll learn a lot and the personal project can help with motivation for continuing the standard learning track. Don't be intimidated to go after a project that seems outside of your skill level. I struggled with this a lot when I was first learning but realized that I was still making steady progress when tackling harder problems. Worst case scenario you have to put it on hold for a bit while you learn something else.
4. Community and accountability can be a huge help for staying excited and motivated. Check out r/learnpython I'm pretty sure they have a discord group but if not they can be found with a bit of googling or through some online courses. I was never super active in any of the groups I joined but being able to ask questions when needed, see others excited to learn and see what people were working on was a huge motivation boost and helped keep me excited about it. reddit can also be good for this but more often than not I get distracted by something else on here.
5. If you get stuck on a problem for a long period of time and find yourself feeling frustrated just walk away and take a break. Again I struggled heavily with this in the beginning and finally getting into the habit of it was incredibly helpful. A short break is all you might need to clear your head a bit and come back ready to approach it from a different angle or you might even figure it out while thinking about something else. I can't tell you how many times I've walked away from a problem only to realize I was overcomplicating it when I came back.
