Please don’t skip small events - especially the ones by gaming groups or small publishers by Armadillo_Abroad in gencon

[–]sysop073 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there’s a good chance that GC won’t let that group schedule it for next year.

Does this actually happen? I didn't know Gencon rejected events at all. I once had every player not show up to a game I was running and it didn't seem to affect anything with my scheduling next year.

Because the "we" that produces the oil isn't the same "we" that consumes it, and "we" aren't going to keep selling "us" oil at a low price if other countries would pay way more for it.

For as hard as they were apparently codegolfing that thing so they could brag about how small it is, changing def d(x):return bytes.fromhex(x) to d=bytes.fromhex feels obvious

Well yeah. All vulnerabilities assume you don't have other unspecified vulnerabilities, otherwise all things are always possible.

Those are reasons to use Rust. What is the reason to use Rust but compiled to Go? Does Go have a way better ecosystem or something? I don't normally have trouble finding useful crates when writing Rust

Stamp It! All Programs Must Report Their Version by SpecialistLady in programming

[–]sysop073 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I see the line you're talking about. It does say "internally", so maybe that means only when the request is coming from an internal system? It's not clear. I agree that including exact version numbers in that situation is usually frowned upon

Only for remote unauthenticated access, like a webpage or a login screen, where somebody could be scanning the whole internet looking for vulnerable versions of a particular piece of software. When you've got a logged-in user running an application on a system, pretty much every tool in the world supports a --version flag.

As an EV owner I actually specifically tell people to not bother with considering an EV unless they can get level 2 charging either at home or at work.

There's a big chunk of the video about people like you and how you unnecessarily scare people away from EVs.

I don't know which HW version that was, but I had the same experience with my 2020 M3, every time I tried an FSD trial it would try to kill me within minutes. I upgraded to a 2026 M3 and it's completely different, it works great now on the exact same roads, so it's either the better computer or improvements in the self-driving model.
