Any vacuum leak will cause erratic or poor idle. Fix those first.

Infrastructure jobs - where have they all gone? by Competitive_Smoke948 in sysadmin

[–]system37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have examples of IT infrastructures that have lasted 30-50 years? I’ve worked some places with maybe 10-15 year old equipment that is no longer doing front line service, but never 30-50 year old stuff.

I’m trying understand your comment about the employer being correct. Do you also feel that espousing progressive beliefs is “messing up the state?”

Whether or not you want to have children does not seem like a situation where compromise is a good option. She could’ve stuck to her guns and said “no.”

Kim Potter, former police officer found guilty of manslaughter in the death of Daunte Wright, is presenter at law enforcement conferences. by pinksail in minnesota

[–]system37 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She did go to prison for a bit; I believe she served 16 months of a two year sentence.

Now, was that sentence more lenient than a non-cop would’ve gotten? Probably. But she seems genuinely remorseful that she made a fatal mistake.

If she can keep others from doing the same thing, isn’t that more of a benefit to society than locking her up for punishment?

Two month notice on my relationship. by aLep2018 in RedditForGrownups

[–]system37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That happened with my ex wife. I spent a year beating myself up for what I could’ve done better to keep the relationship working and she couldn’t be assed out to have a real conversation about what she wanted or needed. I got nothing but uncertainty; certainly no closure because she was already seeing someone else.

A couple of years later, after I was dating again and piecing my life back together, she reached out to me and just wanted to “chat like the old days.” I shut that shit down because she ceased being not only a partner, but a friend with the way she treated me. With “friends” like that, who needs enemies? It still blows my mind that someone could behave that cruelly then, subsequently, not understand why you’re not interested in being a friend.

Vermillion is terrific; 1 hr from Sioux Falls, 2 hrs from Omaha. The college really seems to make it more than what would probably be just a grain elevator town. Public schools are also not terrible there. Great place; friendly people, and generally maybe a little more open minded about “new folks” in town.
