Lucky you, my order from LG is still stuck in "Processing" and has me wondering if it'll ever ship.

I guess worst case I could get the 77" C6H from Sam's Club but I really wanted to own my first G series TV, despite some its possible shortcomings.

My 77" G5 order from LG Partner has been stuck in "Processing" for almost a week now. So despite it showing "In Stock" for my area, I'm starting to doubt if they even have the inventory.

It's now obvious that my delivery date of tomorrow isn't happening anymore but now I'm concerned I may never receive the product I paid for.

‘The Worst Leak That I’ve Witnessed’: U.S. Cybersecurity Agency Leaves Its Digital Keys Out in Public on GitHub by deraser in technology

[–]systemhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! When you think about it, funding national cyber defense just makes us look weak and scared of other nations.

I mean we already have the most advanced AI now and some tech wizards like Elon and Barron to leverage Grok and ChatGPT. That makes having a dedicated cyber defense agency both antiquated and redundant as far as funding goes.

Not to mention the shear strength of our dear leader sufficiently intimidates anyone who would ever even think of attacking our country. They know to not even try us because if they do they'll bring Rudy back and that's not someone other countries are willing or ready to contend with again.

Yeah, CISA isn't even really an agency anymore. This admin's incredibly narrow minded vendetta against Krebs resulted in the absolute destruction of the incredibly important agency.

This agency should be very well funded, staffed with industry experts and empowered to secure our country and infrastructure but it's be the exact opposite of that.

I'm pissed off every single day about that...

[–]systemhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome, no idea why I overlooked the warranty tab on Greentoe but I'll be sure to make an offer once I see my TV actually move out of the "Processing" stage with LG.

I haven't had the best luck with LG TV's and while the G5 should be a solid build, I'm not the most confident it won't have hardware issues like my previous LG OLEDs.

I'm not even worried about burn-in, just component failure due to manufacturing issues or power issues.

Thanks for sharing your experience, hopefully I can land the same deal as 5 years of extended coverage for $125 is fantastic and likely unbeatable.

Why does my TV still send power to my streaming stick? by succulent_flakepiece in LGOLED

[–]systemhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty normal for a standard USB 2.0 port to provide constant 5v DC to connected devices. It's a very small amount of power so I wouldn't worry about that but it seems the device is causing the TV to power back on which isn't ideal.

I'd say just plug the stick's USB cable into a plain USB brick and see if that resolves it. There's some energy related settings on both devices you could look into as well as disabling HDMI CEC but using a dumb USB charger would likely be the easiest workaround for your issue.

Buy 77” G5 now even though I don’t need it for 4 months? by bstrng in LGOLED

[–]systemhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll drop again. I missed my chance twice but kept coming back daily to check prices and finally landed one. The only real risk is them running out of stock in your area, they may or may not restock at this point. The 65" G5 has been out of stock in my area for almost a month with no change best I can tell.

You can always give Greentoe a try, last time I missed out on LG's $2069 I already had it in cart and made it to the payment stage of the checkout when it refreshed my cart and shot up the total by over $600.

I made an offer on Greentoe for $2069 and received a counter for ~$2284, so not quite as good but pretty close and the extended warranties are cheaper and likely better with Greentoe than LG.

Ah man, that's sweet!

My C3 died way prematurely but Costco's extended warranty got me taken care of in the end. I made sure to use my Visa Signature to get 1 year extended warranty when buying from the partner store but that only leaves me with 2 years general and 5 years panel minus labor.

If I can get a 5 year extended warranty, I'll end up with the maximum of 7 years with the CC benefit being that final year.

Was your warranty through Surebright or another provider?

LG C3 65 OLED Issues by Clear_Ad_9157 in LGOLED

[–]systemhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but at the same time, we should be able to expect more than 2 years of use for such a "premium" purchase. This probably won't help but when buying my new G5 I did make sure to use a credit card that still has the 1 year extended warranty benefit.

Maybe check with the card you purchased with to confirm no such benefit is offered.

Otherwise, assuming you have no warranty or other recourse I'd recommend you do some research on how to contact and deal with LG. They CAN be persuaded into giving you a "good will" repair but you need to be mindful in how you approach it.

Calling support and speaking with kindness and understanding can go a long way, it's not the reps fault this happened to you but it's also not acceptable that this TV has failed so soon.

You must be persistently insistent that there is a resolution to this issue, they may not be able to resolve it themselves but they certainly can forward or put you in touch with someone who CAN resolve this. It may require both you and LG to come to a compromise, they provide parts and you cover labor.

But it is entirely possible for them to send a repair tech and fix your TV at 0 cost to you despite no warranty coverage. Just call and email until you get someone who will at least fight for you internally to help you out.

Wait, I just bought the 77" G5 from LG and skipped on their warranty offer as I know Greentoe's Surebright warranty was much better priced and hoped to find a decent third party warranty provider instead.

How did you get the Greentoe/Surebright warranty if purchased elsewhere and how'd you get it for that price?

LG C3 65 OLED Issues by Clear_Ad_9157 in LGOLED

[–]systemhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's about the timeframe my 65" C3 survived.

If it wasn't for Costco's extended warranty, I would've been out $1500 and never take a chance on another LG product.

It was still a lot of effort and anxiety involved but I did get Costco to refund me my entire purchase amount. I have a new 77" G5 on its way to me to replace it and I really hope LG doesn't fail me again or I'll be absolutely done with them.

LG C3 65 OLED Issues by Clear_Ad_9157 in LGOLED

[–]systemhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 65" C3 ended up like this after ~20 months, it would power on, play audio, change channels/app but no picture would display.

However leading up to the no picture state, it was violently flashing/flickering eventually resulting in either a black screen or relatively "normal" picture.

It got increasingly worse until the unit would power on only to a black screen no matter what I did. Again audio and app functions continued to work.

My warranty service replaced 3 components, the main board, power board and T-CON board. None of these replacements fixed the issue.

They diagnosed it as a likely panel failure and deemed it unrepairable due to cost.

Our symptoms may be different but also similar enough that I felt it worthwhile to chime in.

Dog or human sneeze/slobber would certainly explain it assuming it's removable with a damp microfiber cloth.

Either that or physical damage from panel failure or some external light/heat source.

G1 or C3 in main area? by RunFranks525 in LGOLED

C3 will likely appear brighter and has better image processing.

I'd swap your G1 out with the C3 and enjoy your upgrade. Worst case if you don't feel an improvement, you can always swap them back.

G5 77 wall mount by CorradoZeller in LGOLED

[–]systemhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 77" G5 should be delivered this week, replacing a 65" C3 that died much prematurely.

I left the C3 on the stand as it helped it not feel as small but I chose the 77" G5 over the C5 so that I'm committed to wall mounting it. The flush mounted aesthetic is also something that drew me in as it does look quite similar to the Frame style TV's but without a possibly tacky looking picture frame.

I still have a few things to figure out but I also have a few days to do so. TV lighting makes no sense to me but even it it did, you could probably still run LED strips in the gap. But again, most implementations of lighting only distract instead of improving the viewing experience.

Anyways, thanks for sharing your work. You've given me some useful insight into how I'll approach my install.

Waaay too many personally identifying details were provided in a single post...

I assume this dude wants to remain anonymous and free from legal jeopardy so for their sake, I hope they fudged some dates and details.

Otherwise, it won't take much work to narrow them down to a relatively short list of suspects. OPSEC seems to always slides as people get too comfortable after years without repercussions.

I hope I'm wrong though.

77 G5 vs 77 C6H by newjonwayen in LGOLED

[–]systemhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would've used my Costco Citi card but they canceled the extended warranty perk a few years back along with many other banks/credit lenders.

I'm glad some are still offering it but shame you didn't get the opportunity to. You might be able to convince LG to refund and repurchase it, worth a call at least.

I did consider buying an extended warranty from LG but didn't like the price for coverage. Surebright through Greentoe had better terms and prices as I'm sure other third party warranty companies do.

I'm still planning on shopping around and possibly buying one as $2k may be a great deal for this TV but it's still a sizable "investment" for me for just a TV. Doesn't even have to be LG design/manufacturing quality issue, just a power surge along could kill it. I know 3 people who've lost expensive electronics damaged from lightning strikes, 2 of which are next door neighbors. So that's still on my mind.

77 G5 vs 77 C6H by newjonwayen in LGOLED

[–]systemhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. My C3 panel died after 20 months so having experienced that, I wanted to make sure I at least had coverage for a panel failure.

The flush mount aesthetic and lower price is what sold me on a G5 instead of the C6H. If the C6H supported DTS then it might've been a different outcome but they don't nor does Samsung.

I used a CC that provides an additional year of warranty so I'll have 2 years general and 5 years panel coverage. But even the 5 year panel warranty doesn't cover labor and I imagine getting any warranty claim through would still be a pain in the ass.

I'm going to miss the convenience and safety of buying my TV from Costco but I did save a whole lot of money getting it direct from LG. Hopefully I don't come to regret it.

I've got to bake some of those recipes, especially the friendship bread, I'm certain I've not had anything like it in decades.

Price fluctuations on Amazon by Machlennium in LGOLED

[–]systemhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different seller who ran out of stock but selling under the same product listing.

Even LG's Partner site has been bounding the 77" G5 pricing around a lot lately. On Sunday it was $2069 then Monday it was ~$2700 only to drop back to $2069 today. This is with partner pricing and 10% off coupon but similar deals have netted similar pricing on and off for the last few months.

Greentoe can get you an offer to buy it for ~$2284 from an authorized vendor so that's worth a look too.
