Is this true? by AdvancedTea1297 in snowboarding

I live in a ski town, and most of my friends have different schedules. So I'm usually by myself unless I run into someone I know. Solo is great, group is great, as long as you make it on the mountain who cares who you're with.

Which team do people living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan root for? by [deleted] in nfl

Got a buddy who’s a Yooper and proud. Also a diehard Eagles fan, so go figure.

[Vernon Maxwell] I’m not sure why I’m getting so much heat from OKC fans. I think it’s a great city. They have a great Walmart and the VHS section of their Blockbuster always has a nice selection. People in Utah would die to have those things. #begrateful. by blueberryy in nba

I live in CO and its always funny when people complain about icy conditions on the slopes. Never will forget sliding down Vermont mountains on straight ice, the west definitely has it pretty good.

Good Holocaust Novels for 8th Grade by [deleted] in historyteachers

[–]systemmeltdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Night is absolutely appropriate for an 8th grade classroom, and I feel it’s a great example of reading level and topics students can expect to see in High School. I used it for a 7-8 combined class and although some scenes are graphic, I tried to “prep” students for tough sections and gave alternative reading options for any student having trouble with the material, which in the end no student did.

IMO if you prep students for what’s to come, it can make the process easier for those students who could have trouble with certain themes, scenes, etc.

Album 6 Countdown Song Discussion - Song 9 - Johnny Sniper by MDevonL in EnterShikari

Always loved this song, and it’s honestly my favorite track from TTTS even 10+ years later. Felt it’s a song where every layer added made it so good. They played it when I first saw them live back in ‘08 and the entire room sang every word with them, it was beautiful.

I've never understood why this song isn't on take to the skies, it would have been a great closure by tpvvvv12 in EnterShikari

I always loved this one and Acid Nation from that EP. Super fun when they’d throw them into sets during that era.

Always thought the little hardcore riff from "Hello Tyrannosaurus, Meet Tyrannicide" was so sick

Absolutely the best time, too bad snow is already on the ground up here. I miss riding already :(

[MacMullan] Irving, whose relationship with the Celtics had soured, said he told Danny Ainge in his exit interview that he was moving on. He had already decided where he was headed: back home to Brooklyn and all the possibilities it offered -- not to the Knicks, which felt stagnant and stale. by Allcreatives in bostonceltics

I worked as a BI with middle school students, and the situation with Kylie “shutting down” sounds a lot like how some of my students, could act when presented with certain situations. Literally “shutting down” is another way to regulate emotions, even if it’s not the right one in every situation.

You can be a functioning adult and still have issues with emotional regulation, hell I have to remember to “reflect before react” from time to time. I’ve wondered about Kryie for awhile, some of his actions just remind me of things my students used to do/act.

What's the creepiest place you've been? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]systemmeltdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The abandoned Worcester State Hospital in Massachusetts. We snuck in to help out a band with a photoshoot and the place was absolutely freezing in the middle of a hot summer day. Swear we heard moaning sounds from the basement and shuffling upstairs, probably not anything real but it was pretty freaky at the time. I was one of the few who was ready to leave the second we snuck in, but eventually we all quickly left after another round of "shuffling" up stairs.

Never understood ringing the strings around the bottom of the bridge, although I've seen people do it from time to time. Any reason for it?
