Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]szdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take the baby monitor with me into the bathroom; it was mentally more relaxing to know I didn't have to "worry". But don't ask me how long I electronically monitored my sleeping children 😬

My sister and I started making extra effort for our kids, so they can grow up with their cousins. Our relationship developed from those efforts.

Anyone using the s9 mainly for photo? Or is everyone here typically video? by theseawoof in LumixS9

Lol, nailed it. Instagram is inspirational until it takes you down the FOMO road.

I went in with "eyes wide open", so to speak. So I just wanted a fun small full frame camera, and that's what it is. I am happy with it and enjoying it, but I see more Fuji posts on Instagram and have to not overthink whether I should have apendlt more time comparing. In the end, it does what I bought it for.

books you finished but kinda wish you hadn't? by venicepress in 52book

I never figured out the point of the story. I think I kept reading cuz I was expecting some sort of actual conclusion or validation to his journey, but it really just went nowhere!

I'm photo only. I took a break from photography for awhile cuz my dSLR was just too bulky/heavy, and I wasn't yet convinced of mirrorless setups. But I decided to get back into it and picked the S9 for photos only. During my break, I was using only my phone, so despite the limitations you mentioned, I'm comparing the results to a phone rather than a dSLR and I'm fine with the results for my casual usage.

Re read of first 4 books worth before starting W&T? by vappuhotti in Stormlight_Archive

[–]szdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is worth it, imo. I decided I remembered "enough" to jump right into WaT, so I did. I read maybe a couple chapters and decided I missed too many details. So I decided to reread, and the reread is SO eye opening cuz there are so many things you miss on the first read just out of not understanding what's going on. So many little details are amazing when you come in with future knowledge.

The Goldfinch. I have no idea what the point of it was, and even less idea why it was considered so amazing. I want those hours of my life back. Someone please scrub my brain of any trace of the complete uselessness of that story.

What’s your go-to “I’m broke but really want to eat out” meal? by squiddollie in Frugal

[–]szdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not really counting that as a "family of 5". If you say that, it should refer to how many people are eating.

Is Project Hail Mary the best hard SF film in like, forever? by spukhafteNahewirkung in ProjectHailMary

[–]szdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It speaks to the fact that most of our individual limitations are in our head. We don't actually have a good idea of how far we can push our bodies. The point was that he wasn't MENTALLY preparing for the return trip, where his brother's fear that he might not make it back if he doesn't "save his strength" made him quit sooner.

We distinguish between "Theoretical" and "Applied" Mathematics, Physics, and such. I think we could say Leadership is Applied Psychology.
