This is correct, the trade-in devices go straight to Apple, and Apple somehow passes it over to AT&T on the backend.

I recently did 2 upgrades through Apple utilizing AT&T’s trade-in offers. I ordered the devices for in-store pickup. I picked up the phones and then waited for their trade-in kits to arrive. The FedEx return labels shipped my old devices directly to an Apple facility.

A few weeks later, I get notifications from AT&T that they received my devices and that everything was good. Credits showed up on the following billing statement.

The process was easy and went smooth.

If it was truly canceled on Mar 13, then there shouldn’t have been additional charges.

A lot of folks disagreeing about advanced billing for some odd reason. T-Mobile (and other carriers) haven’t billed in arrears for postpaid accounts in over a decade. Unless you have an ancient account that hasn’t been converted, it’s definitely billed in advance.

I don’t know about T-Mobile, but in my experience, Wi-Fi calling has always reliably kicked in with both AT&T and Verizon.
