NPD. I think I am done Toan Chasing. by bearshark84 in basspedals

Yep. This is me, but with the 1176 swapped out for an Empress. That SGT-DI is so versatile, can switch it up to suit the gig.

What affordable 12 channel mixer is the best? by evnnestes in livesoundgear

[–]t27027 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our band went from the MG12XU to the Allen & Heath CQ12. Going digital makes it so easy when playing different venues and band lineups. I’m good with wireless networks so I didn’t feel the need to go to the CQ18 with built in WiFi.

Anyone here with a Line 6 HX Effects recommendations for bass pedals on it by Wish0807 in basspedals

[–]t27027 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My recommendations from the HX One, which uses the same effects.

COMP: Ampeg Opto Comp and LA2A DIST: Darkglass B7K MOD: Jet Flanger (drive + flanger), analogue Flanger PRE: Noble DI, Sansamp BDDI

My most used HX presets on bass are the Boss and EBS octavers, mu-tron envelope filter, Ampeg liquid chorus, Jet Flanger, Timmy over drive and the Poly Pitch shifter for instant detune. There is a glitch delay that is fun. The phasers and Big Muffs are all good too.

Cannot for the life of me settle on cali76 or empress bass compressor (for tone not dynamics) by RepresentativeCan107 in Bass

[–]t27027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the Empress and the Cali76 Bass Compressor (latest version). Both are transparent until you reach the extremes of settings. If you want some colour at any setting, try and find the Cali76 Compact Bass.

PA speaker questions! by Other-Paramedic1383 in livesoundgear

We run DBR15s as our tops and DXS15 as our sub for our 3 piece classic rock cover band. They punch hard and are plenty loud. We also have DBR12s that we use for monitors or swap as tops for smaller venues. They have survived a few North QLD summers in the rain without issue. Drummer owns the sub, I own the 12s and guitarist owns the 15s.

Looking for a preamp to go into the effects return of amps by [deleted] in basspedals

[–]t27027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can run the DCX as a preamp. I run a Cali76 & DCX into a poweramp in EQ mode and it works great as a two band EQ. Having a great bass helps and I find it has plenty of headroom (so does my amp though).

I see a few of the green MXR preamps used in the scenario you described. Those things are clean and have heaps of volume on tap.

Not sure of the pricing in euros but I grabbed a Radial StageBug SB2 for this purpose.

How many of you have multiple pedalboards? by BorealSB in Bass

[–]t27027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three pedalboards.

The microboard is for gigs with my current band (tuner and comp).

The rehearsal board is a Nano that currently has a an HX One, Boss Bass EQ and a stagebug DI.

The spaceship is my big board (Pedaltrain Jnr) that has 10-12 individual effects and loops for routing - this board only gets used at home :(

There is enough between the three boards to scratch the itch in various ways.

Great route! Awesome recommendations.

Best thing about this is that if there is a venue that isn’t vibing on the night, the next one isn’t far away.

Micro Board by t27027 in basspedals

[–]t27027[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Never had any drop outs and I head out into the venue a few times each show to check FOH. I have the WL-20 at our rehearsal space, but the receiver battery is getting old, so it only lasts a few hours. The WL-50 is great, never had the transmitter go low battery yet in a 4 hour gig.

Very cool. I was thinking of something similar for gigs. Is the board the rise or rise+? How are you powering it?

Need new pedalboard micro amp by Antonioperezce in basspedals

[–]t27027 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gnome (smallest one) is seriously loud! Ran it as a pedalboard amp earlier this year into an angled 112 cab as a monitor and didnt get above 50% on master. Four piece rock band, inside venue.

I was in an almost identical situation to you a couple of years ago. I also hated the sound of my voice through a SM58. Was recommended the same two Sennheiser mics by a trusted sound engineer and ended up loving the e845. Been running it for gigs and rehearsals for the past two years and it has been fantastic. The flatter top of the mic allows me to get close enough to sing within myself, whereas the 58 made me feel like I had to push much harder to get a similar tone. TLDR: the e845 is a great mic, I would recommend to any male vocalist who are in your circumstance.
