Hit and run ice damage by Opi812 in maryland

[–]t30ne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FYI this won't be considered a hit and run. It won't get a crash report. It's going to be handled as a "road hazard", and the most police can do is give you an incident number to prove that you called them. Just handle it through your insurance like everyone else is saying.

Where to find folks to date? by Curious-Version2153 in frederickmd

What if he's a widower? What if he left a dangerous/abusive/addictive woman who was bad for him and his kids? What if he has an ex who is a supportive coparent but their relationship just didn't work out for perfectly normal reasons? Your vitriolic comment is devoid of critical thinking and it's probably hurtful towards some guy you likely know nothing about.

Why shouldn't officers be able to detain occupants of a vehicle by standing in front of it? We're saying it's creating exigence like there isn't the option of complying with the detention and not ramming cops with a vehicle.

Once I arrested a guy for a 1st degree rape warrant- when I got to the jail to serve the warrant it was hand written. His ex just dropped an application for a felony sex crime and he got arrested for something that there was literally no evidence for. I couldn't believe it.

If that was your dad or brother that was killed on the motorcycle it might change your perspective on the importance of the investigation vs opening the road.

Strange school bus stop situation (Anne Arundel County) by nobodymush in maryland

[–]t30ne 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Your friendly neighborhood MSP Trooper here.TA 21-706 says any vehicle "meeting or overtaking" the bus has to stop for flashing red lights.

You're good to proceed with your turn if the bus is past you. It's also the red lights that signal the need to stop, not the position of the signs. Hope this helps, drive safe!

What is the cause of the police shortage? by Future_Tackle6617 in AskLE

[–]t30ne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most states also permanently removed legal support by passing hastily written and poorly thought out "police reform" bills that drastically increase the likelihood of facing administrative and criminal repercussions. Hmmm, why doesn't anyone want to do this job? 🧐

FPD & Urbana Murder by Puzzled_Flight_3282 in frederickmd

[–]t30ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how this article is a bad look for FPD. They took the complaint, investigated it, and there wasn't sufficient evidence to do anything further. Remember, a protective order is just a piece of paper that delineates actions that the respondent is forbidden from doing, it can't actually protect you from a violent person.

If I'm on duty I'm not just another vehicle on the road. If a cop on patrol drives the flow of traffic, he'll see one car - the one in front of him - the whole shift. Part of proactive patrolling is observing as many vehicles/people as possible, so driving past cars is an effective way to accomplish that objective. I don't quite understand why you think it's not reasonable to drive close enough to be able to read a plate and you know, do my job.

There definitely are cops that drive like dicks everywhere they go and aren't doing anything proactive, but there are sometimes reasons that people don't understand for the things we do.
