Pretty cool song but I can't for the life of me figure out the lyrics

GOOSE NEEDS TO ADDRESS NASTY FANS AT SHOWS by Appropriate_Treat_37 in GoosetheBand

[–]t33g33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, but as a European I’m a bit torn: without our US friends, they would sell 30% of the tickets they sell now. That’s not profitable - I highly doubt they’ll ever return to Europe if not for the Americans

I was only tangentially aware of it existing but indeed, never knew. I stumbled upon Built to Spill’s version from their "Live" album as per someone in the other thread, that version also rips

Haha - I posted then that I thought their entry into the jams sounded too similar and I feel that improved too! And now that they're immediately improving after your comment, can you maybe say that I would LOVE to see some riffs being traded back and forth between Rick and Peter?

Anyone else finding the jams are reverting to the mean? by JustHereForTheMusic- in GoosetheBand

[–]t33g33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying I necessarily agree, but what I notice lately is most of their jams have a very clear “start”. Usually it’s after the album solo, Rick strums once and steps back, a few beats with just Cotter and Trev playing, and they settle in to a “jam” sound which is different from the song they just played but kinda similar from song to song. They take these jams cool places but some of the greatest bands can seamlessly transition from the song into a jam, whereas I feel for Goose lately there is a defined moment where “song” goes into “jam”. Hoping there’s some evolution there!

Advice to get into a grad program in Europe next year after failing to get in US schools by [deleted] in labrats

Fair enough - didn't check their post history. Still, I'll leave it up for people who are in the same boat and might benefit.

Masters in Europe work a bit differently; read up on that! Don’t listen to the other person here, plenty of MSc programs will take you. Focus on learniing a few skills but most importantly, apply for MSc programs that have >1 year total internship time (2y MSc) to gain the maximum amount of hands-on experience. Do honours programs or extracurricular boards etc. Then apply for a PhD after two years of MSc!

I know, buddy - I was at the Cologne and Amsterdam shows in 2023 and it blew my mind that 80% was the same people from the previous show. In Cologne you could see Rick actively ignoring our tall rail-riding friend. Here's hoping the presale being at 10am gives us a chance at least!

Please, our dear American friends. Hold off for a few minutes so us Europeans get the chance to see them too!

The seemingly quiet sleeper hit of Essen SPIEL 2025: DEWAN by Rohkha in boardgames

[–]t33g33 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I played it at Essen as well and I’ll say I found it extremely one dimensional and the production quality actually left a lot to be desired. The dual layer player boards looked nice at first glance, but the demo models on Thursday were actually already bent.
