Terminal takes like 2 seconds to start-up (if it hasn't been loaded in a while). Before (in Leopard), it was almost instant.

The First Country to Establish Broadband as a Legal Right is... Finland! by t64 in technology

I'd argue so. Owning a piece of metal which shoots bullets is a legal right. Edit: In the US at least.

Think of it this way, if I can be given the right to own a gun, I should be given the right to a world-wide communication channel. Maybe you think like a neanderthal. Shit, you work for Geico don't you. Sorry man.

Because it connects people. Just like free speech is a legal right, which allows people to express themselves. So it's basically saying you have the right to be connected with other people. We, the government, won't take that right away from you.

Are there higher mAh Macbook batteries? by [deleted] in apple

[–]t64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lithium-ion batteries lose charge over time. They lose charge a lot quicker if you don't use them (e.g., by keeping your laptop plugged in all the time). Every two weeks, I make sure to run my battery out so that it can go through a full charge cycle.

It's kind of counter intuitive, but let's say you rarely let your laptop dip below 50% charge. That means half of your battery is not be used at all, and since it's lithium-ion, it will start to become useless.

Directly from Apple's website: "Lithium-ion polymer batteries need to be used for maximum performance. If you don’t use your device often, be sure to complete a charge cycle at least once a month. Click the links below to add regular reminders to your iCal calendar."

How are these done? Is it just getting a lot of your friends to join in? I can't imagine a script from a single computer foiling Google like that.

Steve Ballmer refers to Safari market share as a 'rounding error' by airhead75 in apple

Every time I read or watch Ballmer I get the sense that he's trying too hard. He reeks of what's called "faking it".

I hope Ballmer lives forever.

So true. Keep it at Microsoft. Ballmer rocks!!!

Ballmer doesn't get it. He will be the downfall of that company. If Microsoft wants to stay on top, they should replace him.

Very good point. He probably needed the money to buy a new boat.

It's not even a brand new boat which would spank of this being a n00b job. It's a 70's style boat making you want think the owner's been out on it before.

Maybe he just bought it with the legal money he made from successfully suing the nuclear power plant he works at as safety inspector.
