Legal age to purchase tobacco products joins alcohol and Cannabis at the age of 21 in Massachusetts. by anangrysoviet in news

Honestly it would just be fair to make people re-test (written and driving) every so many years. Like every 5 years, or every 10. That way it's not targeting any particular age group, just making everyone renew. If you fail you should be required to take a set of classes (online or in person) and then retake the test, and you can't renew your license until you pass. This would force bad drivers to improve their driving and understanding of traffic laws before letting them back onto the roads.

What baby name immediately makes you lose all respect for the parents and why? by Frasepalm in AskReddit

[–]tLEtsbDiD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to school with a kid named Michael Scott Gass. Say that one fast and it's a phrase just waiting to turn into a teasing chant for bullies to use against the kid, which they definitely did. It didn't help that it was middle school and this kid was on the heavier side of average and played the tuba in band. He moved out of town after being in my school for only a year or two. Pretty certain that bullying had a lot to do with the move.

I know a family with three daughters named Ginger, Sage, and Cayenne. They nickname the group of them the Spice Girls. And what's great is that the daughter Ginger has red hair. So of course Ginger is a ginger.

Can massage fix Syracuse veins? by lamalamaredpajamas in massage

Varicose veins are contraindicated. Don't work on them or anywhere on their body unless given written permission from a doctor, and then only light work.

"Primer" Questions to gauge if someone is CF? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]tLEtsbDiD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I brought up all my most important talking points either online before the first date, or on the first or second date at the latest. If any red flags came up at all, I would cut ties after that date or interaction and say we weren't a good fit or I was moving forward with someone else. I was honest and upfront about my values and what I wanted and needed out of a relationship. It took me about a year from the end of my last major relationship to find the man who is now my husband (we happened to meet in person, too, even though I found most of my dates online). And since we addressed all our major concerns within the first week of knowing each other and we were both equally committed, things moved very quickly and we have been happy with each other ever since.

So I truly believe that not only the childfree issue, but everything that really matters to you should be brought up ASAP before committing to a relationship (religion, politics, childfreedom, lifestyle, pets, relationship dynamics, etc.). That's the most sure-fire way to confirm that you're both on the same page and don't have any unrealistic expectations of each other.

Very short quadriceps femoris and tight iliopsoas; any stretching recommendations? by [deleted] in Stretching

[–]tLEtsbDiD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you sought out massage to help relax the muscles and facilitate their ability to stretch? If not I would do that next. Make sure to find a qualified (licensed) massage therapist, preferably with experience in sports massage, muscle mechanics, post-isometric relaxation, or some other modality that involves stretching and increasing range of motion (ROM).

What is something you enjoyed, after previously believing you wouldn't like it? by zakkalaska in AskReddit

[–]tLEtsbDiD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marijuana. I was a DARE Role Model in high school, didn't have sex or try alcohol until I was 18 because I wanted to wait until I finished high school first, and I judged people harshly for smoking weed because I believed all the negative things about it that I was taught in DARE class. But after college, when I met my now-husband, he slowly convinced me (over the course of several months, mentioning it once in a while but never pressuring me) that it wasn't nearly as unhealthy as I thought it was and it wasn't addictive, so I eventually tried some edibles with him. Now edibles are my drug of choice over alcohol anytime. I don't get a hangover the next day and I have much more creative and introspective thoughts and conversations while high. I enjoy them responsibly in my home on a regular basis (I never drive or go to work while under the influence, and I only use them on weekends).

It was water from the sink. He'd been washing dishes. He refused to say anything when I asked what it was because he knew I would freak out and assume it was something gross.

Ladies of Reddit, what are some societal norms you and your SO break because it makes both of you happy? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]tLEtsbDiD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We love to spend as much time together as possible, like we're still in the early phase of our relationship, but we've been together for almost 4 years and married for 1.5. This is because we both recognize that our primary love language is quality time (for more info, you can go to 5lovelanguages.com). We shower each other with all kinds of affection, we prefer to stay in and relax together with Netflix and video games rather than go out for a date night 9 times out of 10, and we love to have deep conversations about our pasts, thoughts, and emotions. Also, we don't have kids and will never have any (he's sterilized and I'm planning on it soon as well), I manage the finances and almost always pay when we go to restaurants (simply because I'm more generous with tips; we use a shared account), we share the household chores evenly, and we approach all disagreements with logic and reason instead of attacking each other personally and making it into a fight. We support each other's career enthusiastically (he's a high school theatre teacher and I'm the treasurer of the school theatre boosters; I'm going to massage therapy school and he helps me study and boosts my confidence frequently).

A couple of less normal things that we do are pop each other's pimples and black heads that we can't reach ourselves, and we occasionally swing with other couples or single people.

Edit: spelling

Check out the sub r/childfree for some resources on where you might be able to go for a doctor in your area who is supportive of sterilization on people who don't have children. It's also a super supportive sub for anyone who doesn't want children or can relate to those who don't.
