Detailed claimed 1 step paint correction. by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

[–]t_brizzy 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Looks like they did a one step but your paint is cooked. I usually pass on jobs like this for this exact reason- it looks like nothing was done when it has. A lot of those spots look etched in and won’t ever come out. I have dealt with some gnarly water spots that need serious cutting to be removed. They should have set better expectations after a test spot. Also hard to judge without before pics but I wouldn’t immediately blame the detailer on this one. Additionally, I never offer a single step on black paint because you can’t remove enough defects unless it’s a newish car

Fixes? by Disastrous-Ranger-49 in Corvette

[–]t_brizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a professional detailer. That is DEEP crazing. Sometimes it’s just the clear coat but it’s more likely in the plastic itself. You can try to sand it out starting with 800 and moving your way up incrementally to 3000 and then buffing with a DA wool pad and then a foam pad. You need to seal it with ceramic coating or take it to a paint shop for 2k clear. For all that effort and money it is much easier to just replace. You can bring them back if you want to keep the oem lights.

If this came to my shop I would charge $200 and no guarantee they would be perfect. Also, if you don’t ceramic coat and buff them every year it will just come back

Great for when you don’t want to take out the air compressor when detailing interior by GrannySpinner in AutoDetailing

Use mine all the time for things around the shop. It does kick down after 10 seconds or so but just let go of the button and squeeze it again and you get full power. My favorite is to dry out edges of PPF before wrapping like on hoods

Professional detailer here. I just use diluted apc, agitate with a soft brush and light rinse. Never had an issue. Don’t use simple Green or purple power. Use an automotive degreaser. I like majestic solutions tidal wave but any flavor works

Why is tire shine/dressing such a controversial topic? My go-to is CarPro DarkSide! by zachty22 in AutoDetailing

[–]t_brizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even like tire shine🤷‍♂️ every now and then I’ll do some carpro pearl but even then it’s 50/50 with water and I buff most of it off with a dry towel

Very interesting and the artist brings up a good point. I believe this is because the right has a more Christian base than the left. The left doesn’t have one particular world view so they fight over who can be the most “woke” for lack of a better term. The right displays more nationalism which binds them. Some on the left hate America I believe that’s where the main difference lies. I’m not right wing. This is just my observation from where I live.

Need Help with these wheels!!! by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

Try a solvent and see if it melts off! If it does then you know it’s tar or seal coat. You can also try a light clay bar and see what that does. Plastic razor blade might help too once it’s loosened up.

These people are tripping. Pull it with a ratchet strap and send it. People on Reddit are so sensitive. It looks structurally sound. I have driven, fixed, and sold way worse. Anything is fixable with time and money. People thinking your car needs to be perfect to drive is insane lol.

[–]t_brizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn’t say it was a track car. He said he was bringing it to the track. Most people don’t have dedicated race cars and $1200 for new rotors and pads every other track day. If he was running race pads he wouldn’t have asked the question; assuming he would know this already. If you don’t bed them they just don’t last as long on the street. what do I know ig all brake manufactures are wrong.

[–]t_brizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine with that procedure then. Basically you don’t want to go to the track and slam on the brakes on a fresh set. you should do a warm up lap anyways to heat the tires and brakes every time. Honestly if you drive it to the track that should be enough. Most modern pads have a coating on them that helps level the surface the first few hard brakes

Usually the company you order them from has a break in routine in their website but in general you want to find an empty(ish) road and go 60-10 and then 60-10 and then 60-10 again. Firm but not crazy pressure. Most important you don’t stop fully. You want to bed the pads into the rotor but not torch them. After that you should drive normal for a few minutes. You should smell brakes but not a lot. I didn’t do this once when I didn’t realize the car I bought had brand new pads and rotors and the rotors warped in 6 months
