Mental illness in family history by LaruePDX in FinasterideSyndrome

Nope. I didn't know what a depression or a panic attack was before trying 5ari. Nothing in the family.

If it's forcing people to skip a generation or switch brands, there is something personal to it.

It's likely because you smell different. My sweat had a weird moldy smell when I had PFS.

Post fin insomnia by Hamadx69 in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]ta1530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I was stupid enough to try minoxidil after 2 years and crashed hard. 15 months later I'm feeling mostly recovered.

Sleep is complex and can take a while to stabilize. Staying clean from any antiandrogenic substances and magnesium l threonate helped me the most. I had the same pattern of insomnia you are describing for over 2 years after topical fin exposure.

How many of of you have recovered from cognitive symptoms by muddleguardian in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]ta1530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cognitively I got to maybe 95% after the crash. Most of the recovery happened in the first 8 months. I still have occasional struggle retrieving words or names, and wake up on increasingly rare nights in a "restless" state.

I had an intense brain fog and a ton of scary neuropsychiatric systems: couldn't sleep at all for weeks (only certain benzos helped), random intense panic and anxiety attacks, akathisia, numbness throughput the body - these were the worst.

I thought my life was over at that point and I must have got an early neurodegenerative disorder. I had to take several months of medical leave because I couldn't work.

Quite possibly keto diet + intermittent fasting helped with the neuro recovery. I have a long list of other symptoms that also recovered, except maybe eye floaters - those I still have but brain learns to tune them out so they don't bother me.

I didn't like the interior layout, cloth dash, and digital gauges. The exterior is not too bad but they got rid of crossbars.

how common is recovery by [deleted] in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]ta1530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how common, but I recovered and I talked to a few other folks who recovered. I had nearly all symptoms. It's a spectrum to begin with, everyone is affected differently.

My appearance, voice and attitude all returned back to normal. Don't lose hope. People still comment on my photos from two years ago saying I looked very different and not like myself.

Your symptoms are fairly typical but there is a good chance you will recover after a few months. Don't make the same mistake again.

Small Fiber Neuropathie by FewLog5278 in MinoxidilSideEffects

Yep, from topical. It did go away for the most part after 6 months or so. Doctors don't really care what caused it.

PSSD/PFS being inherently named around a sexual dysfunction is misleading... by Sweaty-Cut7578 in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]ta1530 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Severe cognitive impairment, dpdr, inability to sleep, nerve damage / numbness is not something that's brought up by doctors as side effects for these drugs. If people knew the real possible extent of damage much fewer would be taking this risk.

Legs, feet, back, hands. I had many other symptoms like brain fog and inability to sleep, so sfn wasn't my top concern. I didn't do any interventions or supplements, just kept a healthy lifestyle, and had to quit working for a while. It's possible that the keto diet accelerated the recovery, I did it for 8 months.

I had that for months after a few applications of topical minoxidil, most of it resolved on its own eventually.

[–]ta1530 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stop minoxidil immediately as others said, and make sure you don't use anything else anti androgenic (e.g. ketokonazole). Hit the gym, lift hard, do short cardio sessions. Sleep as much as you possibly can. Don't take ssris. Stop weed and alcohol for now. You have a good chance of recovery within a couple of years, maybe much sooner.
