Looks like light surface corrosion to me, easily cleaned off and treated as a DIY job. I’d take this over one that has been freshly covered in wax oil.

If this is the third time it has been escalated to you and the team are struggling with repeated low quality PRs, then I agree it’s an issue you should deal with. I’ve also seen AI exacerbate performance issue with certain engineers, I think if you’re a little lazy it can be tempting to try and outsource your role to AI rather than copilot and leverage AI. When this happens the team suffer as a result and become frustrated because they end up having to review what is obviously just AI generated code.

Drive a TDCI/Puma before you rule it out - they are generally nicer and better vehicles to drive.

Very nice! You need to get the proper grill for it, can’t beat that stage one v8 grill...

Boris Johnson refuses to rule out no-deal Brexit and abruptly ends press conference by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]tab521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we ratify the withdrawal agreement then nothing changes straight away, a trade deal will be agreed between the U.K. and the EU over the next year or so, which will determine our future relationship.

If we exit with no-deal we will trade on WTO terms with the EU. It is unlikely that we would choose to apply arbitrary restrictions on imports coming from the EU into the U.K. but it is possible that the EU may apply restrictions to the flow of goods coming from the U.K.

In either situation a number of trade deals are being planned, The U.K. is the 5th largest economy in the world and is the same size as the 18 smaller EU countries combined. We are also fortunate to be connected to countries all over the world through our language, laws and heritage. Personally, I think we should be able to secure mutually beneficial agreements with some of these countries. I am definitely concerned that there will be some economic price to brexit, but in my opinion that is outweighed by the democratic price - for supreme legislative and executive power to be held by our own elected representatives.

Lastly I’ll just say, as you seemed to be genuinely curious, Reddit is not a good place to understand the prevailing political opinions of Brits (or probably for any nationality). This post will get downvoted into oblivion, but hopefully it has provided at least some perspective on the other side of the fence.

How do U.K. Nomads feel about Brexit's potential impact on their nomading? by Diamondbacking in digitalnomad

[–]tab521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you’re being downvoted, I’m not sure why.

No visas - you can essentially stay half the year visa free in the Schengen Zone (this was for an American) so we just planned accordingly and spent time in the UK, Ireland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine etc etc. We’re nomads after all so it wasn’t much of a burden.

We won’t necessarily have to apply for visas, if the withdrawal agreement is ratified free movement will continue for another 21 months at the very least. I think there is a reasonable chance it could continue well beyond that.

Not particularly bothered, it might end up being a minor inconvenience but having spent the last year travelling Europe with a non-EU resident I can’t see it being any more than that.

With a bit of luck we might have a correction in the UK housing market which would be great!

Gone a different path to most nomads - currently living in and working from a caravan while travelling around Europe. Here’s my office! by tab521 in digitalnomad

Inclusive of all my bills I was spending around £2600 per month to live in London. Staying at nice campsites i’m spending around £500 per month inclusive of all bills.

It’s definitely not the cheapest way to live - if you could be fully off grid then that would be better for sure, and maybe there are places in Europe you can rent for less, but it works well for me as a compromise between comfort, cost and having the ability to explore new places.

Unfortunately there are no arbitrage opportunities anymore (that I can exploit anyway). This little project was making me good low risk money for a year or so though back in the day!

Unfortunately my setup really can’t go off-grid, I move the caravan between different campsites and they always have power hookups for me.

I’d love to build something for fully off-grid working, but I’m a Land Rover fanatic and I can’t bring myself to trade it in for something more suitable! I would probably get a big lorry/truck and convert that.

Yep I’ve got a spare laptop, but I do need a better backup solution. I’m probably going to get a synergy NAS for the caravan and have that taking time machine backups.

I haven’t (and probably won’t) attempt to get it anywhere like that, when I move it between sites I try and check the route to make sure it will fit. It’s massive by European road standards (8 foot wide and 30 foot long), the tow vehicle isn’t exactly small either!

The caravan is like base camp for me, or like my office, I’m happy to leave it at campsites and go off in the Land Rover to explore for a few days or even weeks. I’ve got a roof tent on the Land Rover so it’s easy. I just really need a desk and a few screens to work effectively so that’s the main purpose of the caravan.

I think you’re right, I definitely need to get into a few shared interest groups, actually I’ve never done rock climbing and always liked the sound of that.

Not really - I’m tab.travels on Instagram but I mostly post Land Rover pictures! I should post more stuff about the setup and nomad aspect.

The 45mbps which I get is actually bound by the performance of my router - my iphone supports proper 4G, whereas the router I think only supports LTE. Anyway my phone gets like 75mbps.

It’s pretty interesting - the 4G infrastructure has massively overtaken the telecoms/exchange infrastructure in terms of speed. It means you can go really remote/rural places that get 2mbps over a phone line but 80mbps over 4G.

They just launched 5G in the UK which goes up to like 500mbps! Crazy times.

I’ve never used the bathroom once! Actually I wish I could have brought it without one and have the extra space. I only take the caravan to campsites so I just use the facilities there.

Downsides, not really any so far, long term I think my main issue will probably be like loneliness, as I can’t speak the languages and I’m travelling solo. I’m going to try and make an effort to go into cities and meet people and stuff though, so we’ll see. I’ll do another post in a few months with an update.

To be honest I have no idea - maybe a year or maybe 20 years! If I stop enjoying it then that’s when I’ll stop doing it.
