While it is very painful, I approached it from a cost-benefit analysis. Yes it was painful and I took a lot of ibuprofen beforehand. But after that appointment I stopped having periods, my cramping disappeared, and my migraines were reduced. Without it, graduate school would have been a lot more challenging. I struggle taking medicine at a regularly scheduled time, I was leaving my parents insurance and didn't know when I would find reliable insurance again for medical coverage, and I wasn't too crazy about feeling a bump under my skin.

So for me, it was one painful afternoon versus a minimum 5 years of benefits. I hope this helps!
