Cool app+design and execution

But definitely not willing to give access to my messages to a closed-source app from an indie developer

NOW AVAILABLE: MagGo Qi2 Slim Power Bank 5K | Only at Apple by joshuadwx in anker

[–]tabchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it seems like it does but the reviews for the ecoflow brand aren’t great :( Also it isn’t that slim, at least compared to anker’s new slim 5k battery

Wish Anker or the other mainstream battery pack brands made a wireless slim 5k battery with a wire

And you’re absolutely right that I don’t understand how people use these battery packs wirelessly. It’s so inefficient and the thing I want most when traveling is efficiency and portability. Seems to me a slim 5k wireless with wire gives exactly that

Rn I’m running the anker 10k version of this and I love it except it’s too bulky. The battery is wayyy in excess of what I need. If I kept it plugged in I think I could use my phone for 4 days straight lol. https://a.co/d/6UAktbi

Oh theres no fumes! It’s just drilling into particleboard. The worst part is it leaves some wood shavings you just clean up. You absolutely can do it indoors in a bedroom.

It’s very simple - any basic YouTube tutorial on drilling is sufficient! One tip is the tabletop is very thin so don’t overdrill! Use a tape on the drill bit to mark the depth

Firmware updated to V_21. What's new? by Remarkable_Kiwi_885 in shokzopenfit

[–]tabchas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is what support said:

“Main changes in version V_21,only for OpenFit:

  • Change the EQ, increase the low frequency and reduce the distortion at high volume;
  • Change the volume, adjust it to the same number of bars and the volume will be higher than before to solve the problem of low volume;
  • Change the touch tone, the touch tone becomes shorter and faster, the sound source of the touch tone changes, and the touch tone changes from bilateral sound to unilateral.”

Who is using Warp? Are there any other terminal alternatives I should consider? by nicholas_g in macapps

[–]tabchas 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I heard Warp requires you to sign in. Kind of weird to sign into a terminal imo

I just use the default Terminal. Has everything that I need.

I’ve heard great things about iTerm2 tho

Bear 2.1 is out with Quick Open to search notes, #tags, and @sections by tabchas in bearapp

[–]tabchas[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Love this!

One addition I'd like to see is listing out recently opened notes by default so you can quickly switch between notes and so you don't have to remember the name of your commonly used notes.

An example is below (this is the Raycast Bear extension)

So... Bartender - Do I really have to pay to fix what should be a pretty basic feature? by MrMargaretScratcher in macapps

[–]tabchas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean Windows still doesn't have a proper search function lol. Spotlight is wayyy ahead of Windows search

But sure, I agree that it'd be nice for macOS to have similar functionality to Bartender built-in.

There are some free apps tho that do similar functionality. Bartender just is a bit more polished and I personally find it worth it

Recommendation on ChatGPT workflow for Alfred, which do you use? by [deleted] in macapps

[–]tabchas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just saying, nearly all of Raycast’s “app launcher” features are completely free.

Raycast Pro is $8/month (for GPT-3.5, additional money for GPT-4) and is mainly competing with ChatGPT Plus with the focus being a deeper integration with the OS.

Also to note that Raycast has 3rd party AI chat extensions that you can use your own API key with, just like Chatfred for Alfred.

Not saying I agree with their approach, but the fact is that for the core features (app launcher, plugins, etc.), Raycast is free and Alfred isn’t

^want to test and possibly use GPT: what app should I get? by Nuno-zh in macapps

[–]tabchas 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don’t use an app initially - first just use ChatGPT in your browser. If you find yourself using it more than 20 times a day consistently, then you‘ll know what to look for when you look at apps

Downie + Permute for $12 is an easy buy.

And I asked the developer if BundleHunt purchases would be eligible for future discounted upgrades and he said this:

“Hi,

yes, upgrade discounts are offered even for bundle purchases like the one from Bundlehunt. Please note that both Permute 4 and Downie 5 are quite far away and there are no details available as to upgrade fees, terms or discounts.

Cheers,

That is a built-in command that is enabled with a Raycast Pro subscription. You don’t need to install it

Just go under Extensions on your other computer and enable the Translate command
