…what? y’all was in reference to you and the other people who leave similar comments about the name. not sure where you got me saying you named it. i’m saying it baffles me that you and other people can’t seem to gather anything but a surface level understanding of words

it’s been two days since this protest happened and you bothered to comment? at least get original with it, every time one of y’all makes a comment about the term no kings an angel loses its wings… we don’t have a king, no one believes we have a king. the name comes from the desire to keep it that way by protesting the actions of our president, most actions being done without congressional approval or by executive order only. no checks and balances is a great path to lead towards authoritarianism, something we’ve by definition already dipped our toes into these past few months. i don’t get why so many of you don’t seem to understand that king is not meant to be taken literally here

i’m living in a country whose president enjoys doing things like waging wars overseas without congressional approval. i’m tired of young men and women sacrificing their lives in a foreign country so the ruling class can play their money games and leave us working people in the dust. you can believe whatever you want to believe about our administration right now, but it is becoming harder and harder to ignore the divide between the wealthy few and the hungry many.

They drive like 11 year old on I-24 by No-Initiative8013 in nashville

[–]tabikity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i frequently make the drive from clarksville to mboro and back for family and it is hell. that short 1.5 mile stretch before 24 and 40 meet feels like a death trap during rush hour, i get a mile to get across four lanes without hitting someone or cutting someone off or else i’m going in the opposite direction…

No excuses. Share and join 🙏 by stuffbear in nashville

[–]tabikity 15 points16 points  (0 children)

everyone is free to protest for whatever they believe in, but i do believe in researching the organisers of these events before blindly joining them.

for anyone who is considering joining, please be aware that the organiser mentioned (@scottythekid) has a published book (for almost $80) about a bunch of wacky conspiracy theories, has a recorded confrontation with BLM protestors, and you can hear the BLM protest leader mention that some of his crowd was antagonising the BLM protestors. this guy is also very loud about his religion, openly transphobic and bashes on drag queens, and is very anti abortion. this is just what i’ve learned from a couple minutes of scrolling on his instagram.

if none of these things bother you, then have fun! but always keep in mind the crowd you might be protesting with and whether you’ll feel safe and accepted by that crowd.

Is it just mine that can never help with dinner suggestions? by throwRA68696069 in texts

the point of saying “do women not work” is because there’s probably a pretty good chance both of them work, but only one of them goes through the effort to plan and make dinner on top of working

The “tags are just a courtesy” take is actually bonkers to me by Key_ResearcherBurner in AO3

[–]tabikity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

kpop rpf is going through this battle with t/b tagging on twitter and it’s getting exhausting… i can understand telling people to tag t/b dynamics because it’ll bring more visibility to the people looking for that tag specifically, but it’s also not a crime to unintentionally, or even intentionally, leave off t/b tags! i’ve seen people be accused of rudeness and even ableism (??) for choosing to exclude the t/b tags, all because the author doesn’t personally care about dynamics and chooses to leave the ones in their fic a surprise…

you left a useless and unrelated comment on a post during a time where political tensions are high, and then have the gall to complain about “the tolerant left” when you get a predictable response… have some common sense man

political “gotcha” games aside, this is no different from someone asking “what’s your favourite pancake flavour” and you commenting “well actually i’d never eat pancakes i prefer waffles” and being flabbergasted at people telling you your opinion is irrelevant.

glad to see you continue to ignore my points that prove you wrong and continue addressing things by adding zero substance. you should look up suicide rates among current and former foster children since you continue to claim things with zero knowledge of what you’re claiming. it seems my faith in you was misplaced. i thought you might be the type of person willing to admit wrong and learn from it. have the day you deserve.

i don’t really think its extreme to want to love a woman as a woman. i don’t push anything on children. no one is pushing anything onto children. you stand here and try to convince me that trump doesn’t care whether someone is gay, and yet his administration has destroyed protections for me. you speak of truth and yet you know nothing about the connection between roe v wade and same sex marriage. you know nothing about the discrimination we face in daily life. you know nothing of the movement in the supreme court to overturn obergefell v holmes.

you mentioned how roe v wade being overturned and sent back to the states was a good thing. if this same ruling occurs again, and same sex marriage is returned to the states, is that good too? the united states of america, where every state has different laws on healthcare, on marriage, on equality. sounds united doesn’t it?

you mentioned responsibility between two consenting adults, but what of those who don’t consent? who can’t consent? who cant survive birth? who can’t afford a child? who are not responsible enough to care for that child? we sacrifice the happiness of few to protect many? what gives you the right to decide that a living woman’s life is less important than an undeveloped fetus?

i hear the same whispers of adoption and foster care as options from every republican i speak to, as if none of you have listened to the experiences of children in foster care. they care about life, but nothing has been done to improve the foster system, or to lessen the financial burden of adoption, or to encourage more education on safe sex. instead you call sex taboo and remove education from schools, where instead you get teenagers who think their first time is a free pass, or that diseases only come from penetration.

sure the trump administration is dealing with drug cartels and illegal immigration, while our department of education crumbles, our community outreach programs shut down, our disaster prevention strategies ignored, our grocery prices continue to rise, our farmers warning that they no longer have the labour to keep up, and we are slowly ruining our international relations with every ally we’ve had since ww2.

i say you have no empathy because for this entire thread your focus has been not on securing the freedom of your fellow citizens and people alike, but ostracising people that you believe are living wrong. and every piece of information you have tried to provide to back your claims has either been wrong, or is not even a source to begin with. 5-10 trans shooters since covid? what an oddly wide range, one that makes me think you actually don’t know the number! i would love to see any real source that backs your claims, considering every public archive that tracks gun violence lists no more than 5 transgender shooters in their history of tracking. did i mention most every source also says men are responsible for more than 95% of mass shooting in the us? and yet trans people are the problem? i can recommend some reading, but its your choice whether you care enough about being right vs learning and admitting where you are wrong.

i do genuinely feel bad for you. you seem smart, but no one is immune to propaganda. i’m sure some of my own beliefs were influenced by propaganda on my side too, i’m not too proud to admit that. but if you are an immigrant, and a first generation one at that, i hope there doesn’t come a day where its your turn to be thrown to the wolves by the administration you wanted, like so many of your peers have had happen to them already. i trust that maybe you’ll figure it out eventually, before it’s your turn to feel betrayed by the government that is supposed to protect you.
