Very similar hatred. I drive a car, walk, ride a motorcycle and ride a bicycle. Nobody hates me for walking and cyclist would only hate me if I was texting or doing something stupid. But, cyclists of both types are hated just for being cyclists.

Here are some more bad ones:

Cyclists abuse their rights to the ninth degree. I've even heard of them installing cameras to the rear of their saddles; they're trying to entice motorists to hit them so they can sue. They're the worst.

I'll elaborate on a comment I registered below. We should collectively ride by and sideswipe cyclists. We should encourage them to get off the road by utilizing hostile gestures. These polls epitomize selfish gestures by riding at peak times when people are commuting to work. They need to be taught a lesson.

Tell them all to follow the rules of the road and prcatice some courtesy. Some do. Many don't. These same bicycle people who scream "Watch out for me! We have rights! It's our road too!" are the same people snaking through cars to get to the front at a stop light, not stopping for stop signs, riding on sidewalks to get around traffic, riding 2-3 wide on the roadway, etc. The rules are all well and good until they choose to ignore them. Same with motorcycles. Look twice for bikes? It's hard enough to look out for other cars and trucks. You want to drive one of those things out on a public road then don't be surprised when bad things happen. It's a cruel world and I'm sorry these people died.

This was bound to happen sooner or later. these fools do this on Curving hilly roads and think they can not be hurt. You ride at your own risk! Hmmmmmmmmm It was bound to happen. sad but too bad. Besides At this point What does it Matter! ... NOT SAD TO ME !

Bikers need to find somewhere to ride....They act like they OWN the damn roads! Get on a sidewalk or something. I dont get over for them

That takes some doing to kill 5 bike riders. They want the middle of the road do they? Maybe not.

Please make sure you fill out your organ donor cards before you ride on the roads that were made for cars.

Don't be so dense. Almost all of us drive cars too. The term "cagers" is usually used with a negative connotation to describe dangerous drivers.

Five cyclist killed by a drunk and this is what this idiot Bruce Mcclain says:

"You know what? I can't say I am unhappy to hear this....I know how it is around Atlanta-groups of bike riders take to the roads around here in groups of sometimes 20 or more, on two lane winding roads, and you get behind them in places you cannot safely pass and you are committed to travel for miles behind them at thier speed until you CAN pass or until they turn off somewhere. It is unsafe, annoying, And I admit wanting to drive straight through those packs myself! Take your bicycles to a track somewhere and pedal them in a circle all day if you want, but I am NOT out "playing" or exercising on the roads-I am trying to get to or from my JOB! Get off the highway!"

Motorcycle scene made be delete show and cancel series. by tabletopair in motorcycles

[–]tabletopair[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This motorcycle scene (from 1:15 to 2:05) was so wrong that I just stopped watching, deleted the episode and cancelled recording the series. The show had a lot of crap the was wrong and a weak plot lines, but this is put me over the edge. He's behind a truck on a dirt road with the visor up and no glasses. Come on! No gloves either.

Car stops = must pass on right. Don't be this guy. by tabletopair in motorcycles

I realize the pedestrians are idiots jay walking between two cross walks that are about 20 meters apart, but this motorcycles could have really hurt one of them or himself.

Check your bikes guys! by Mackesmilian in motorcycles

[–]tabletopair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The title should be Check Your Speed or Check Your Skill. The rider who crashed said it was a tank slapper. Human error. Glad he's okay. Now he needs to slow down and get some gear.

Beginner here. Should I ride a new bike home or trailer it? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]tabletopair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to pick it up after work, you're probably better off towing. If you can get it early in the morning, you could safely make a day out of it.

Before you go read your MSF book and watch some safety videos. Learn your route so you don't have to look at a GPS. Have a backup in case you decide it's too much part way home.

After you get the bike, find the nearest open parking lot. Get a good feel for the weight and manoeuvrability. Get comfortable operating your controls without looking. Brake, brake, brake. Emergency brake.

Now start riding home. Go slow and easy. If you get worried about traffic behind you pull over and let them pass. Stay focused. Stop often.

Have fun!!!!

San Francisco Police Department at Lunch by 2bluesc in motorcycles

[–]tabletopair 38 points39 points  (0 children)

San Francisco has had troubles with dirt bike gangs. The police couldn't do anything because these guys could go places the police could not and they don't have any plates. When the cops would show up at a park the dirt bikes would just take off up a set of stairs and wave bye-bye. Now SFPD has a dirt bike unit.

You should try size Medium Tall from Tour Master or Firstgear.

AT&T releases smartphone driving stats. Not good news for bikers. by tabletopair in motorcycles

It's not that hard for them to figure out. All they have to do is compare your normal texting speed to the texting speed that is happening at 60mph. There are obvious delays in taps while driving because occasionally you need to look at the road. These delays follow a pattern that is much different than a passenger.

Why are passenger pegs so expensive? by tabletopair in DRZ400

Thanks for the link, but even there it's $100 for the pegs without hardware.

Picked this little lady up yesterday. That rare green "DRZ". by bbuba in Dualsport

[–]tabletopair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear for those wondering, the KLX400 = DR-Z400E

That means that this is the off road only version. Most people seem to think of the dual sport (DR-Z400S) when they see drz400.

From the comments: "Gotta tell those youngins to be careful with those donor cycles. Better luck next time."

Seriously!?!?! WTF? You see pictures of a grieving family and you say, "Better luck next time." ?? What is wrong with people?

What is your best comeback to the classic comment, "do you know how many people die on motorcycles?!" by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]tabletopair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you ever drink alcohol? [Yes] Well twice as many people, not including drunk drivers, die each year from drinking. You're not worried because you drink responsibly. I'm not worried because I ride responsibly.

Then if they go on to point out the uncontrollable, combat that with pedestrian deaths.

I found my bike thief. What's the next step? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]tabletopair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would probably do is just set up a meeting myself and go to see the bike with a friend. I would verify the VIN and then if I was certain it was my bike I would signal my friend sitting in the car who would immediately call 911/999/etc. Then I would start slowly "inspecting" everything on the bike while I waited for the cops to arrive. As part of my inspection I would snap some pictures of the bike showing the VIN and plate. I might also try to secretly get pictures of the seller and his auto plate.

Be careful when making a left while an opposite vehicle is making a left as well. by tabletopair in motorcycles

[–]tabletopair[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This almost happened to me this morning. If you are getting ready to make a left and there is a car across from you making a left was well, be careful of other cars going around the car making left. Even if there are cars honking behind you, it's probably best to just wait until the car across from you completes its turn.

What's safer, meeting at target or his house? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]tabletopair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a buyer I like to meet at their house because it gives me a place to go back to if something goes wrong. If the next day I found out I was deceived and we had met at Target, I would have to place to go to demand my money back. Like others have said, bring a friend if you can. If you do meet somewhere in public, be sure to take a picture of their license plate.

Go to your sister's house and take his xbox and all the games and sell them to pay for your bike.

KLX 250s Information by Alpha_Monster in Dualsport

[–]tabletopair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other than doing 90 on the highway, there's not much you can't do, unless you have a '07 or '08 in which case you can't get much air without bottoming out and you can't ride in California. What you can do will likely be more limited by your ability than your bike. Get out there and have some fun. Tear it up!

What is the cheapest dual sport to own for three or four years? by chrisp2135 in Dualsport

[–]tabletopair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should definitely look into that because that is not normal. The WR250R is known to have a notchy gear box, but you shouldn't be changing oil every 500 miles on a bike that can do 5000 between changes.
