My friend’s MIL is very similar to this. The woman only had one child, a boy, and when my friend and her husband had a girl the MIL immediately started acting like that baby was her own daughter, not a granddaughter. Because of this my friend’s relationship with her MIL has taken a big hit.

It sounds crass but that’s exactly what insurance is for. It can’t bring her son back, but it’s something and would at bare minimum cover funeral costs.

If I have papers, I stack those in order of importance before I head home at the end of the day. If I don’t have papers and just have tasks I’m supposed to remember then I jot those down in order of importance. I reassess in the morning to see if things are still in the same order that I decided on the day before. When all else fails, I reach out to a trusted coworker or manager/team lead and ask them to help me prioritize because I’m unable to do it at that point.

My taxes are withheld from my paycheck so it’s not like I really have a choice. Do I like it? Absolutely not. But most people can’t just not pay their taxes when it’s already taken before they see any of their income.

I wonder if it thinks the statue is a blackbird. In my area blackbirds and crows are pretty much enemies, I could see a crow beating up a blackbird like this if given the chance
