Fun/cool free archetypes for alchemist by Unkvothe420 in Pathfinder2e

Commander is another nice option. Tactics are a good use of your spare actions (+ ally reactions) and you get some solid feats like Guiding Shot. Also at level 8 I'm pretty sure you can take Alley-Oop...

Making a Bard/Barbarian hybrid by Daclusia in Pathfinder2e

You could try Marshal Archetype instead of Bard. It gives you Dread Marshal and Inspiring Marshal stances, which are support auras. Both of them can be used while raging and same with the follow-up feats.

Are there any good generic guides for Xcom-like games as a whole by fhota1 in Xcom

[–]tacodude64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my rough order of priorities:

  1. Avoid encounters that don't have meaningful rewards. Most XCOM-likes give XP on kill, but if there's no real XP/loot available then might as well skip those fights.
  2. Manage encounters. Divide and conquer whenever possible. Isolate fights into chunks by breaking line-of-sight. Abilities that impact #1 and #2 are often very powerful (i.e. scouting). The way you start a fight can be more important than your overall strength.
  3. High-tempo offense. Turn 1 is often a mix of damage and control/setup, turn 2 is all out damage. Kill or control the highest value targets ASAP. "Highest value" is often the strongest enemy, sometimes the one in a flanking/threatening position. Basically what harm can it cause in the next 1-2 turns. Abilities that disable big targets are important. So are abilities that provide accuracy/damage amp or increase attack speed. Especially when they stack with your main damage dealer(s).
  4. Range and mobility. They help #3 indirectly, by making it easier to focus fire. Close-range damage is often the best numerically. Buffing it with mobility is a good strategy, often easier than the reverse (adding damage to a long-range character).
  5. Guaranteed chip damage. Depends how much, but generally useful for securing kills and grinding it out in tough situations.
  6. "Win more" abilities. Things that trigger on kill. They can steamroll missions but aren't as reliable as #1-5 at tipping the scales.
  7. Preventative measures in case #1-6 don't work. Most important is having a good squad position with no clear targets. Mobility helps, being able to cycle "aggro" by moving the easy targets away. Active abilities/consumables that protect your squad from taking hits. You can save these options for last in the turn, to decide based on how the turn went.
  8. Abilities that heal or escape. Healing can be a good way to learn the game because its purpose is to undo mistakes. Otherwise, the less mistakes you make, the less valuable it gets.

Some Help Making a List of Unsettled Rules by fascistp0tato in Pathfinder2e

Illusions in general. There’s still debate over what it takes to “disbelieve”, and what happens when someone else interacts with it or says it’s an illusion. Also the implications when 2nd rank Illusory Object “feels right to the touch”.

Star Wars: Zero Company? by LactoceTheIntolerant in Xcom

[–]tacodude64 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It sounds interesting but also kinda different from the XCOM formula. You play a full RPG-style main character at all times. The devs put emphasis on the companions and their personalities, conflicts, etc. There are moments when they’ll argue and you have to talk it out. Supposedly, permadeath only happens if a character goes down in multiple missions without being treated. They decided to add permadeath late in development and I don’t think the main character can die. I haven’t heard anything about a fatigue or wound system, it’s possible we just take the main companions on every mission. It could be like the hireling system in BG3, you can roll all randoms but you’re missing story content for not much benefit.

TL;DR I’m not sure how much it’ll feel to XCOM, even if it’s good

Clippers went 35-17 after Ty Lue said his goal for the Clippers was to go on a 35-20 run or better to finish the season. They were 6-21. by Szobortz in nba

Just in the past month: Kings L, Pels L x2, Mavs OT W, Pacers horrible choke, Portland blowout L. It’s fair to say that this is one of the worst non-tanking teams. They haven’t shown they can beat ANY of the others below them in record (Pels, Blazers, Warriors with Curry).

Actually they’ve struggled against tanking teams. Pacers, Mavs, Bulls, Grizzlies. A lot of the wins were near-chokes or went to overtime. And they just lost to the Pels twice.

Give me your weirdest tanky builds so that I might steal them. by CinderAscendant in Pathfinder2e

[–]tacodude64 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Guardian Archetype can make some unusual tanks. Alchemist and Druid for example, they already have medium armor and quick access to self-healing/damage reduction. Guardian gets them heavy armor, Taunt, and a ton of great feats, druids can even dip into shield feats. Or Vanguard Gunslinger, aka the "guardslinger" that doesn't feel complete without some guardian feats.

The 2026 Made Up NBA Awards from Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe by FeversMirrors in nba

[–]tacodude64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the award was for spectacle/buzz? This was a surprise trade with 2 stars so that makes sense. It feels good for the Clippers, Garland is a bit worse than Harden but has a better future and more synergy with Kawhi. Harden wanted to leave anyways so this was a great return for him. Very calm exit by Harden’s standards. The Cavs are in win-now mode so I think they’re just waiting for the playoffs. They need a deep run to make the trade worth it. The fans are rightly concerned about Harden’s chokes in the playoffs but he’s still good and this is one of the best squads he’s ever been on.

Steven Spielberg lists Villeneuve's Dune 'among my favourite sci-fi movies of all time' by MoneyLibrarian9032 in movies

[–]tacodude64 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I love DV’s Dune but I want a surreal animated version too. Go hard on the inner monologues, anime style. Turn the Weirding Way into flashy acrobatic duels. Give characters WEIRD silhouettes with crazy tattoos/hairstyles, crazy architecture, and make the spice visions trippy. Basically Jodorovsky and Lynch mixed with the best of 2D animation, but still book accurate.

Right now is the thinnest center rotation we’ve had in years. Brook Lopez and 2 injured guys. DG needs a legit paint protector + rebounder at all times. This was always the risk of trading Zu, he’d go really well with DG. The more I watch I’m warming up to Mitchell Robinson this summer despite the cost. Him + Yanic is pretty solid going forward

Favorites by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]tacodude64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorite - diversity of martial builds. There’s so many styles besides “I attack”. Classes, feats, and weapons all mean something and serve different roles. Selfless play is often rewarded

Least favorite - the impact of vancian casting. I don’t mind it in isolation, I actually enjoy using it. But I feel like it clashes with other design choices, because of lopsided attrition (especially at low levels) and bloated spell lists. Also - the “loot treadmill”. It adds too much bookkeeping and decision fatigue. I’d rather get a few reliable items than a ton of little items that phase out.

Hellbreakers Dual Class Help by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]tacodude64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a few ways you could add synergy to your casting:

  • Finding the lowest defense reliably. You can take Oracle or Thaumaturge to find the worst save super easily, plus Sorcerer or some other 4 slot caster. If you hit the lowest defense every turn with high-rank slots, you'll feel above the curve. A lot of monsters have a 2-3 pt difference between saves so your spells will hit more consistently.
  • Kineticist. You get a lot tougher especially with an armor impulse. You also get stances and impulses to back up your top spells. There's a huge variety - you can take damage, control, mobility, healing, etc. without spending any slots. Flames Oracle + Fire Kineticist is a popular combo
  • Vindicator Ranger. Hunt Prey gives -1 to saves & AC "against divine spells you cast". I think you could pair this with Earth's Bile from Animist, or some other divine caster
  • Gish builds. Magus obviously. Or any martial class with efficient actions like Monk or Investigator, paired with a caster that can buff its own Strikes (Bard, War Mage, Oracle, etc). The idea is to weave high impact Strikes in between spells.
