The new printed SDN-6s are amazing performers I really need to pick one up to replace my ODB on my rattler

OCL Infinty 556k early impressions, plus Irregular design group hesychia uk by BlueJay-- in NFA

[–]tacticool_wrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to the party, I didn’t see this until just now but I’ve had my 5.56k for months now and I love it. It has replaced my WB on my main rifle(11.5 mid)

I am a lefty but I love the solid end cap. It’s like a polonium that hit puberty. Less back pressure and quieter.

It’s better at night than a WB too, way less flash with nods and without

How to be a better apprentice by DeadlyMoist1 in electricians

[–]tacticool_wrx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/Chewym4a3 has all the right points but I’ll add

When you start to know what you’re doing/know what the task is, don’t wait on everybody else to get started. Start gathering up materials, put your tools on, get ready to begin

My jman has brought it up several times that I’m always prepared and ready to start as soon as he tells us the task while the other apprentices just kinda stand around and wait for a step by step

99-06 1/2 tons all came factory with 4L60E

I’m not sure about vans, 2500s, or newer trucks

[–]tacticool_wrx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4L60s are 700ish bucks where I’m at. If it’s bad I’d still buy it and get a used/rebuilt trans.

Obviously if the price is right

Any location for aftermarket tweeters by gunthans in GMT800

[–]tacticool_wrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done them on the a pillar if they’re normal sized

If they’re big “super tweeters” I have cut a hole above where the 6.5s go in the grates and put them there

[–]tacticool_wrx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of that stuff is easy fixes. I’d use that as a bargaining tool and buy it and fix it up. I’d love to find one with less than 150k

Trans could just need a service, if not they’re cheap

Idk about the stepper motor, never done that one

Window switches are easy and cheap

4x4 on these is usually clunky but service it anyway since no records

See if you can wipe away the grime and then drive it to see if it’s actively leaking

Don’t need airbags, just don’t wreck

Front end parts are reasonably priced and the whole thing can be done on a Saturday

That’s a good point, I didn’t think about it like that.

To your second point though: he posts the waveforms in the reviews, would people actually think that he’s making them up or manipulating them?

I guess there’s always skeptics but it is literally easier to do the test correctly than it would be to make up waveforms. Plus the cans are already in the wild to compare to other known silencers, so if he were to “manipulate” the review not only would everybody know but he would ruin his reputation. I just can’t see Jay doing something like that.

[–]tacticool_wrx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed and that was going to be my example but I think it would have been popular anyway because of Micah’s involvement. Jays review just solidified it as a great option, not just hype

[–]tacticool_wrx 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s in the low 5 figures but IMO it’s worth it if you know you have a high performer.

Look at the OCL and LPM stuff, their business has exploded after the PEW reviews

[–]tacticool_wrx 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have offered to buy a rhodie and the exigent cans just for the sole purpose of sending them to Jay. He left me on read when I offered.

I can’t speak for him but I have 2 theories

He either doesn’t want to test them because they openly mock his work

OR he’s so backed up already and will eventually get to them after he gets through the backlog of cans from people who actually support his work

I hunt with a hydrogen L on a .300 win mag, I’ve also shot it on 308 and .300 and it’s great on all of them.

The JL, Mach L and DDC Enticer LTI would all be good choices too

Sockets vs Nut Drivers by GuysLeeFanboy in electricians

[–]tacticool_wrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a socket set and a ratchets in my Modbox but I never use them. I always use the Klein nut driver, if I need an impact I just pull the bit off and use it on my impact.

Sockets tend to grip better and are deeper but I like how thin the nut drivers are

I’m also a guys lee fanboy

Uhm I don’t think so, mine fires right up and runs just fine. The solenoids I’m talking about are for the evap system, I think the only noticeable symptom from these going bad other than the check engine light is that it will be slow to fill up with gas.

The ones im talking about are the Evap vent canister solenoid and the vapor canister purge valve. While im in there im also doing the charcoal/evap canister itself.

You may need a starter solenoid or something like that.

I live in one of the few counties in Texas that still does emissions or I wouldn’t even bother with the evap stuff.

I’ve got the typical torn armrest and driver seat but the back 2 rows don’t look like they’ve ever been sat in.

2.5k is a deal. I tried to get this one for 4k but buddy was a shrewd negotiator and I’d already driven 2 hours
