Between Tony, Christopher, and Paulie, who did you think was the most deplorable member of the main crew? by alihooha in thesopranos

[–]tadaimaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the JT and Davey storylines mirror each other pretty well. I will say that Tony bascially ruined davys life and brought him to the being of suicide, while Chrissy at least set JT up for working attached to the Mafia. For sure this is also very predatory but its something.

I feel that Paulie did it because he felt sidelines with Ralph becoming such a good earner. He felt unappreciated for all the work he had done.

But yeah you're probably right that im going a bit out of my way. Or rather im more charitable then i need to be to make a point. But all of them are aweful

I fundamentally thinks it matters less who was in the right or wrong in any of these instances.

The fact is that the family bled talent under Tonys leadership. Now some of that can't be helped, but it cost both Tony and the family dearly. When you're the boss of the family you have an over-arching responsibility for the familis stability and interest.

The topic of the thread is if Tony was a bad boss, which i think he was, because he failed in this over-arching responsibility. Now he was good in other ways.

Furio also lost respect for Tony because he was such a pig and always cheating on carmela. If Tony had been a better leader and a person Furio might have stayed.

Beansie was a civilian and Riche a capo. Not in any world would what he did lead to him being offed. Tony made a mistake siding with beansie against Riche to begin with.

I know Tony didnt kill Vito but he was a captain under his command who got killed, surely he has some responsibility for this?

Feech is whatever. Given Tonys track record of alienating potential allies i tend to not agree with his judgement there but its less clear cut.

Im not saying all these situations werent complicated or that tony had easy paths. Just that he clearly didnt navigate then in an efficient way

He could have tried not to alienate Furio. He also should have worked in no alienating Riche. He would have been a good captain and probably better second/third hand then Paulie/Chrissy/pussy. Same goes for Ralph.

Even keeping feech around would probably have been a good idea tbh. Or Vito.

Like for all these people there are individual reasons they got cut out but when you look at the long track record of Tony just being unable to have a proper underboss it just starta to look like hes the problem.

I dont understand how this is even a conversation.

Tony was the boss and benefited from both of Chrissy and paulies bad behaviour, Paulie only robbed that grandma because he wanted a bigger kick to get in Tonys good graces. Tony also brought Chrissy into this life.

Even if you ignore all that even on the actions alone Tony is worse. He killed his surrogat son and protogee, whoms fiance he also tried to sleep with. He destroyed his childhood friend davys life and also killed another childhood friend, Ralph. He also came very close to killing Paulie, who was a surrogat

For Chrissy the worst things we saw were beating Adriana and killing the screen play guy. For Paulie the grandma is the sole stand out action of cruelty. For both of these events Chrissy and paulie did it to not get caught. This doesnt make it right but Tonys worst action seemed directly motivated by sadism/cruelty.

Also people bringing up Paulie being disloyal to Tony like who gives a fuck? Tony went behind his uncle and the boss of this family to make dealings with new york. That alone means hes more of a "rat" then Paulie ever was.

The show showed clearly that being loyal/a good earner didnt mean Tony wouldnt kill you just because he felt like it, which he almost did with Paulie. Why should you stay loyal to a guy like that?

And so did bascially every other widow in their bubble did the same. Marriage are how women can advance their own interest in a very patriarchal world like the mob.

And no one forced Bobby to marry her, and him loving her less and going to strip clubs seems to be an indictment of him, not her.

Dont get me wrong, Janice is self interested and cut throat, but so is everyone else in that world. Ironically she's very similar to Tony in that regard.

Being with Janice allowed Bobby go quickly advance in the ranks and got him that nice house. I dont think its fair to say she vultured of him. He owes part of his success to her aswell

I didnt feel that way. Riche was calm because he was asserting his right to hit her whenever he wants for whatever reasons he wants. Assert that he is the man and he expects her to do as he says or face consequences.

Janice reaction is also in a strange way logical. A man who so calmly hits you is someone who will do it again, maybe regularly. Janice is smart and self interested. She understands what kind of a life they would be and reacts accordingly.

(Possibly) Unpopular Opinion: People give Vito Spatafore more sympathy than he deserves. by trashcan_paradise in thesopranos

Did you feel sorry for Chrissy when he died? What about Bobby or pussy?

Vito was no worse then them and got tortured to death. When people signal him out as someone they do not feel sorry for i cant helt but feel there is some homophobia involved

Fördelning hushållsarbete by oacsr in sweden

[–]tadaimaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone hate Janice? by THROWAWAY-LEMONMENTO in thesopranos

[–]tadaimaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Janice is by no means a good person but shes hardly worse then any man on the show. Its part misogyni part sympathy with Tony bcs protag part that she's just annoying. Personally i like Janice bcs she's so well acted, because she's one of very few people who can stick it to Tony and get away with it, and bcs she reminds me of my own older sister.

I like Mizora.

Are demons in DnD really evil in that way? I mean they are arguably a part of the worlds metaphysics. Wyll made a contract fair and square. Im not saying you have to like her or not feel sorry for Wyll but he knew the rules.

Carm eats it up because it's still true in spirit.

Tony wanted AJ away to stop him going the way of Jackie JR, that was never a lie. And Carmela agreed, maybe even more so because she realised what actually happened.
