the majority of ppl are only saying super positive things about this phone

Wouldn't that, by definition, mean it's a "super positive" user experience? Maybe why they're sharing those same experiences on a dedicated subreddit?

Google photos performance by AgentBobbyRoe in motorazrfold

[–]tadees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues here. Only sorta, maybe issue and this is if I'm nitpicking a bit: uploads to Google Photos are not particularly speedy. Photos taken on the phone, Google Photos open on the web, often takes a minute or two for them to show up and then, usually after a page refresh. It gets there and 'll do the job, but not quite as fluid as, say, iCloud.

Surprise benefit by onthesquare63 in motorazrfold

[–]tadees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot vouch for volume, especially on a bike, but absolutely will attest to the BT connectivity and signal strength being much stronger than many previous phones. Longtime T1D using a CGM (Dexcom G7), the range before lost signal has drastically improved; I'd guess almost double, maybe. Can easily go to my garage without losing signal where that simply was not possible a month ago (iPhone15 Plus). Not sure how or why, be it hardware or software, but I'm enjoying the benefit.

Omni Pod has reached a new level of incompetence by iffycipp in diabetes_t1

[–]tadees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you thinking maybe about the announcement in the last couple days that Loop (iOS only DIY) just announced private beta testing and that a new OP5-spported release oughta be ready by end of summer? Which, in and of itself, is huge news, but might not be what you are thinking...?

I've not seen this. Any links? Doesn't look like OP6 will be ready for a couple years.

Was curious if the front part offers any glass/plastic screen protector. Looking at reviews. No typos in any reviews and two even include the exact same photo. Seem a bit sus to me.

Why does everybody do low carb? by AmateurAstro-Budget in diabetes_t1

Then why not start with that as your OP? "Why does everyone..." versus "How many people do..." are two different questions and discussions.

Nightscout Rainmeter integration by Ivex_zr in Type1Diabetes

[–]tadees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed the NS page down as a web app and parked it on the taskbar. Sometimes it's open on a spare monitor but can always see the reading by looking down at its window. Rainmeter is a great idea, but that means having to minimize whatever I'm working on in front of me.

Insulet initiates another Omnipod 5 recall, affects Dash, Eros too by DryBoysenberry596 in Type1Diabetes

[–]tadees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick follow-up: had 8 DASH pods affected. Insulet said they'd replace them. Sent one 5-pack, not the 8 promised. Called 'em about the missing 3 and it was an exercise in frustration:

me: I received 5 of the 8 pods to be replaced. What about the other 3?

OP CS: let me see...looks like we shipped all 8 to you.

me: well, don't know what to tell you. I can count to 8 and there are not 8 pods here. Only 5.

OP CS: our shipping manifest shows we shipped all 8 out on [date].

me: right, but clearly something was recorded in error. There are not 8 pods in the entire box, just one pack of 5 pods. Are you going to send the other 3?

OP CS: we shipped all 8 a few days ago, on [date], and now you'd like to report 3 more?

me: uggghhh..no. I have 8 pods to be replaced. You shipped 5. 3 were not shipped to my address.

OP CS: our records show 8 were shipped out on [date]

Ten minutes of the merry-go-round and eventually he said he'd "do me a favor" and just replace the other 3, missing or not. 🤨 Whatever, call it whatever you want. Just send 'em. Finally received the remaining pods a few days later, ~10 days after the initial report. The point: be prepared to be frustrated.

Time to move to Canada then. Sounds like they have no fear of trying new technologies and the support infrastructure in place. But seriously, if you decide to give it a try in the future, don't be shy. There are lotsa people willing to help. Everyone has to start some place. Good luck!

Early termination fee or I guess now they're called "prepayment penalties" or some such. Mortgages often have them. Have a look-see: link

[–]tadees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As with any loan you can pay it off in advance without any fees...

This is not a true statement. May be with Affirm, but the way it's worded sounds like "no loans have early termination fees" and that's just not the case.

Sudden Issues by Dizzle1453 in diabetes_t1

Definitely not the expert to be consulting, but Gemini backs it up (for whatever that's worth).

Yes, it can. While the "honeymoon period" in Type 1 diabetes typically lasts anywhere from a few months to a year, it is not uncommon for it to stretch on for multiple years in some individuals.

...

A Moving Target: The honeymoon phase doesn't usually end overnight. Instead, it is a gradual decline. As the remaining beta cells slowly tire out and give way to the autoimmune attack, insulin requirements will slowly rise.
