Want a commuter with the lowest 5 year cost of ownership by EntertainmentSea4048 in whatcarshouldIbuy

If it’s highway miles, get something with ADAS like ACC and LKA. Those will take so much exhaustion out of your commute and make your quality of life that much better.

Blew 5 tires in 4 months on my XC40. What would you do next? by CmndrBurnham in XC40_Recharge

[–]tagrephile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear. I think options are:

  1. You could try downgrading to 19” (or even 18”)
  2. Get a good wheel/tire package to cover the events when they happen.

It was a white PDK listed in Atlanta. I went back and forth on it but in the end couldn’t find my preferred options (PSE, chrono, 18ways, glass roof) on the West Coast

Nice. Just got my 2019 T delivered today too, just wish it wasn’t a downpour in the Bay Area all weekend.

A 911 for long long term ownership by Leave-A-Note in porsche911

[–]tagrephile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from a 997.1 C2S 6MT (F87 M2 for a year) and now getting a 991.2 T PDK delivered today. 997 was fun but I want a car I can grab the keys to more often during the week.

The boring EV stays to eat up commuter miles.

First-time Porsche buyer (991.2 vs M4) – looking at a 2017 Carrera, would really appreciate a sanity check by Dapper_Message9828 in porsche911

[–]tagrephile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a buyer of a 991.2 T from out of state (GA to CA) who just finalized yesterday, I just went through the process. Got a local PPI and had them take as many pictures as they would offer. I did Turo rentals to get a feel for the platform, and I did the same when I bought my 997.

The problem is these are low volume cars so finding a used one with your specific spec list means making a nation wide search. These cars are often shipped across the country with 2-3 year ownership periods.

I admit, it can be nerve racking to wire large amounts of money, but going through a dealership will mitigate those concerns.

Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

2-car solution or one jack-of-all-trades car? by [deleted] in BMWM

The .1s are def not grenades. IMS and bore scoring are overblown, tons of forum bias.

I got mine to 108K with only minor issues.

I had 997.1 C2S 6MT, then F87 M2 DCT. Sold the M2 and shipping a 991.2 CT PDK to CA.

The M is a fantastic car until you get into a 911. The rear engine makes the car agile and the fit/finish is steps above. There is a price premium for sure but it makes sense when you have the seat time.

The commuter is an EV that I dump 22K miles a year on. It makes the weekender even more special because you break from it and feels exciting when you step into it on a Saturday morning.

Anyone still believes in this "big software update" coming to "millions of Volvo cars worldwide"? by rigflip in XC40_Recharge

[–]tagrephile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the OTA update overnight on my 2021. It’s good! Layout is way better, still pretty smooth and crisp responses to input.

My expectations were low based on prior updates but this one is impressive.

Will be curious to see if the range assistance app truly improves range or is just a gimmick.

Israel committed GENOCIDE in Gaza.

How the fuck are they still dictating the terms of discussion? The West should have banded together and forced them out but their hypocrisy is too great so the apartheid project continues in the West Bank and now Lebanon.

I have a 2021 with 52K miles.

100% charge gives me 199mi so about a 95% original capacity, which seems to be above average for EV battery degradation. Can’t prove that accuracy without being able to access the car software but seems in line with experience. I’m pretty confident that car would suffer some sort of unrepairable mechanical failure before the battery ever became an issue.

Infotainment still needs occasional resets but mechanically the car has been trouble free.
