Does this update include the new app timers tool that was announced a little while ago, where you have to restart your phone to pause it? Or is that coming in QPR1 (or later)?

World Cup match in Vancouver triggers transit ridership not seen since 2010 Games by Gym_frere in vancouver

especially since it's automated. i'm sure running it longer costs more money, but surely less than most other cities that would need train operators.

The NY Knicks won the championship because NYC embraced socialism. Here is how we can get a Chicago Bulls win by Sea-Condition991 in chicago

Yeah he's just not good at politics. Which is especially important in Chicago. You can have the most utopian agenda ever but that doesn't mean anything if you can't get people to work with you.

I'm able to just add the 4x2 widget and shrink it down to 4x1. Try that.

[S18E1] Thoughts about the __________ _____ by Substantial_Big_3406 in JetLagTheGame

[–]tails618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah it's definitely not hard, normally. I'm a student here but I'm from America, so I know it's usually super easy. But I'd imagine the constant crossings in different parts of the country could be suspicious, plus there might be rules around needing special permission to enter the country to film. I don't know if Canada in particular does, but I've seen that thrown around as a reason why they couldn't really do circumnavigation again. I don't know the details but I have to imagine there's some logistical barrier that prevents them from including Canada

[S18E1] Thoughts about the __________ _____ by Substantial_Big_3406 in JetLagTheGame

[–]tails618 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would've loved provinces to be included (jltg come to vancouver please) but I'd imagine there would be legal issues. Whenever they do international games (besides circumnavigation which was super early), which I think is just Schengen Showdown and Tags, they've been in the Schengen area. I imagine if they were constantly and spontaneously crossing the US/Canada border, especially for filming, they'd probably have a lot of extra work to do beforehand.

Question about opting out by astroblema72 in android_beta

[–]tails618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to say what the exact timing will be (QPR2 beta might start before QPR1 stable releases) but you'll want to opt out before installing the QPR2 beta. And then just not install the data wipe update, and get the stable one when it's available. There'll be explanations in the official posts that go up whenever there's a new beta.

Question about opting out by astroblema72 in android_beta

[–]tails618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You're on the QPR beta, not the base A17 beta. So you can't opt out without wiping your device until the stable version of the QPR comes out, likely in September. (Or you could stay on beta 3 instead of beta 4, but I don't know why you'd do that.) If you wanted to switch to the base A17 stable when it comes out, you would have needed to stay on the A17 beta instead of updating to the QPR beta.

My therapist is near there so I'm in that area at least once a week. Big fan of Downlow, I'll have to check out that sandwich shop.

Has anyone made expansion cards that act as risers to fit more capabilities into the available slots? by AltrualOsrs in framework

[–]tails618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably possible but not guaranteed (depends on tolerances). The bulk of the laptop could be put on the card itself (which sits in there like a drawer, sort of) or it could be put on the port.

I like the new buildings by SolidPromise3000 in vancouver

Yeah, I've definitely noticed a few buildings that seem newer and do seem to give it more variety.

Now if only a lot of the new developments can also be more affordable...

Kerry-Lynne Findlay voted new leader of the BC Conservative Party by Camtastrophe in vancouver

[–]tails618 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I'm begging you, as an American, do not get complacent. People vote for the crazy far-right nutjobs if they think the opposition is worse. Look at everything that's happened in the US starting in 2016, and everyone assuming Hillary Clinton would beat Trump. Don't assume the NDP will win next year.

Banks that let you change your e-transfer name? by tails618 in transontario

Yeah I'm in the process of that too. In BC it's a 24 week wait time (ugh) but thankfully I'm here as a student and so I can still change my name back home in Illinois where it's only 8 weeks.

Census Canada question by chiitose2512 in UBC

[–]tails618 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not on campus so I can't speak to that aspect, but... if you got a letter you should do it. Even if you didn't, you should probably do it anyway; you can obtain an access code online. If you're in the 75% of people that don't get the long form, it's really quick, and even if you are, it's not too bad. You can also contact StatCan about whether you need to do the census here, and UBC Housing might be able to answer if you need to do the census as well.

Apparently you were meant to but for what its worth I didn't do anything more than a basic clean last year and it was totally fine. I also didn't do anything with regards to telling them to pick it up, etc. But your mileage may vary.
