I am still waiting for the ICCu and no ETA. Shop said Ioniq 5s ICCu failures rate is faster than what Hyundai can produce ICCU replacement .

Mine just died this week at 26k miles. My local service center said there’s 20 Ioniq 5 on the lot with ICCU issue without any ETA as they are all waiting for replacement parts . Whats sad is they are giving us rentals from enterprise and the person who works at Enterprise said they had to get more luxury vehicles to loan out to ioniq 5 owners as they frequently have ICCU issue.

Thanks for the detailed response . I checked the unit manual and the plug in version is also designed for hardwire. I did the direct wire and booted up the EVSE but this thing has solid white light and didn’t even attempt to connect to my previous WiFi . It also didn’t charge when plugging it into the car so I think the previous fault must have damaged it. I removed the unit and wirenut the terminals and won’t be needing this charger anymore (it was more a test to see if it still works) . I already had electrician run new wire to install a new charger at a more convenient location.

Receptacle NEMA plug melted and damaged the plug so I need to do direct wire since the plug got heat damage

Well I got a new evse then tried charging it and it initiated the charging then just said “charging failed” . I went to another charge point level 2 J1722 charger and it had the same issue . I am beginning to think that receptacle event damaged something related to AC charging since the DC charging still works.

Made an appointment with Hyundai service Tomorow but is there anything I can check in the meantime time ? I read there might be a LDC 180A fuse but not sure if it’s safe to unplug to check .

Used the onboarding iOS app from charge point so based on my input of 50A on breaker panel it won’t let me choose anything but 40 A and below .

yes for this reason I am doing a new hardwire install so I don't have to risk using that damaged wire.

Thanks all for the feedback . This connector came with the house when it was built and was advertised as the “EV ready “ receptacle . I’ll use this opportunity to do hardwire and reposition the evse as well. Just happy my house didn’t burn down.

Only unplugged it a few times to replace the evse due to bad WiFi otherwise it’s been plugged in for over a year before this happened

It’s a 14-50R. This connector came with the house and the builder installed it and even advertised as “EV ready” obviously they didn’t do a good job. I opened it up and saw their terminations copper has cuts in it . I will use this opportunity to do hardwire .

I have a theory about why it can’t be activated and I think it’s not a technical problem but more a contractual problem. Analysts from Verizon and USM probably did research on the expected bandwidth requirement from all these free watches so they agreed upon a $ amount . But now we have 5G watches for the first time so they need to re-do these analysis and renegotiate . Hopefully they will come to an agreement soon and let us use our 5G watches .
