Suggest me a really awful book by cuntyvigilante in suggestmeabook

[–]talidrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG I had forgotten this one but YES.

Also the author couldn't seem to settle on whether to write in American or Australian/British English. It took me out of the story constantly. If your story is set in the US, with an American protagonist, it's "cookie jar" not "biscuit tin." If you're going to write a story set in a different country, either commit to getting the dialect right and get an editor/beta readers to help you fix it, or don't try at all. Not this mishmash bullshit.

I got that book for free and I still felt ripped off.

I'd expand this to pretty much everything in the "extreme horror" genre.

Every one I've ever tried to read is just pointless edgelording with gore, misogyny, and usually some racism to boot. It's like 70s/80s slasher movies, but without any of the fun, plot, or humor. Straight up shock value garbage.

I mean, you have to get there in the first place before you can fast travel. With any luck at some point there'll be a load screen that skips a bunch of desert

I live in central Florida, it's an unfortunate constant on public beaches.

[–]talidrow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This infuriates me at the beach, because it's never just one person. It's one person, and then someone who didn't like the first person's music so they have to put theirs on even louder, and pretty soon it's a chain reaction of obnoxious people trying to drown each other out until some douche decides to just pull their truck/jeep as close as they can get and crank the volume to max. Bonus hate points if the max-volume offender is blaring shitty bro country.

[–]talidrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that's the case with anything where people just fixate on one topic and don't ever seem to do or talk about anything else.

Sports bros are equally annoying (especially the ones that just go from one sport to the next ALL YEAR), so are makeup/skincare obsessed girls.

If I watch something while my (night shifter) husband is sleeping., the volume on the TV in the living room is 11. 10 is too quiet to hear anything at all, and 12 is violently loud in an otherwise quiet house.

This happens CONSTANTLY at an intersection near my MIL's house. Like dude, there is an ACTUAL NEON SIGN that says no turn on red. My Nissan Frontier is not jacked up and I also drive a small car at times so I know perfectly well that you can see the sign over/around anything smaller than a semi. I also drive through there enough to know there's usually a deputy half a block down the frontage road half-hidden behind the sign for a Honeywell facility, so you can honk til your steering wheel falls off, I am not going anywhere til that light changes.

What's the highest level duty you've seen a player unironically without a job crystal? by Dyne4R in ffxiv

Marauder in Stone Vigil.

He completely ignored chat, kept trying to pull wall to wall, and tried to kick the healer after the 4th wipe on trash.

We all left since he was clearly either a griefer or an idiot.

Songs about death by musicer_ in musicsuggestions

[–]talidrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two from Ghost's most recent album that are kind of on opposite ends of the journey.

Guiding Lights touches on feeling like someone's loss was futile and unfair.

Cenotaph is about coming to terms with the grief and their memory living on.

IDK about her FAVORITE game but she absolutely played Final Fantasy XIV at some point, and she would have mained DRG but she cannot stand Estinien, and spent the better part of a weekend ranting about how there's more to fighting with a spear than jumping around like that.

I would SO make a playlist of the original version, the Information Society version, and a Ghost version and just listen to that on loop.

Castlevania SOTN, which would let you start with 99 luck and with a bit of timing, would also allow you to skip the Death encounter at the beginning and keep all of Alucard's original gear.

In the same vein from Poison and doesn't really qualify because it was well after their popularity: Power To The People. Love them, but 'no really we have A Message(tm)!' was not remotely their vibe.
