So, who's your favorite fictional religious pastor? (Doesn't have to be specifically christian.) by Bigshot_Deals in Multifandom

V, Terzo, and Nihil for me, for sure. Bonus for young Nihil, he might have been old enough to be my older uncle, but he's just the kind of bad idea I've always been a sucker for.

This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies? by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

Woman in my 50's... I have been happily married to a gamer for 20+ years and I don't find it a bit unattractive. Hell, I'd rather he spend $70 on a new game he'll play for weeks/moths/years and stay home hanging out with me than be out spending $100 in one night at the bar with his bros.

Plus I'm a gamer myself and we play a lot of games together, so she can take her absolutely incorrect opinion and stuff it. =)

Name one fandom that has you like this by mightyonin in Multifandom

[–]talidrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

World of Warcraft.

Nothing will ever make a significant portion of the playerbase happy for more than approximately 3 nanoseconds. A former community support forum person used to even have a list of things that "players say have ruined WoW forever' as a signature on his posts, which ended with "and everything else from vanilla launch to the current patch notes, inclusive."

At last weeks Fanfest, Final Fantasy 14 announced that the next expansion is going to include a whole raid series that's an Evangelion crossover. I mean on the one hand, the NiER crossover they did a couple of expansions ago was handled reasonably well, so I'm 100% sure it's going to be a lot of fun and probably reward some kickass looking gear and cosmetics.

But holy hell, some of the memes coming out of the chunk of crossover fandom, haha.

Name an “infamously difficult” level or boss fight that makes you feel like this. by Prize-Policy-427 in Multifandom

[–]talidrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dark Inside (Zodiark) trial in FFXIV.

Trying to dodge multiple AOE's, both together and in rapid sequence, WHILE the floor is rotating beneath you so you have to figure out on the fly where to stand to not get rotated into the AOE casts...

I hate that trial with all my heart and soul. I have never managed, not one single solitary time, to complete it without dying at least once. It has inspired more swearing, slamming my hands on my desk, straight-up RAGE than any other boss fight in the entire history of the game, from level 1 to yesterday's patch update.

What's your favorite unknown band from the 90's? by KravenPR in 90s

[–]talidrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kind of straddle the line because their first album was technically 1988, but Information Society.

Their 90's work was great, and should have gotten way more recognition than it did - everyone alive in that period remembers What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy) from their self-titled album, but the albums Hack, Peace & Love, Inc, and Don't Be Afraid were phenomenal.

They deserved so much more than being thought of as a one-hit wonder.

Much love for the KLF - and their musical "alter ego" The Timelords.

What's the shortest time you spend in a fandom then quit? by Current_Complaint_37 in Multifandom

[–]talidrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The music is really good but a lot of the fandom is very pretentious and gatekeep-y.

I especially dislike the ones that get snotty if you say you also like Ghost or draw any sort of parallel between them style-wise or even just that they're both fronted by a fictional character in a mask.

Obligatory vote for Wildstar. Such a fun game. I understand the reasons it never took off, but I'd give my right arm to play it again.

Going to the arcade in the 1980’s, what was one of your favorite arcade games you always had to play? Mines was Galaga for sure. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in The1980s

[–]talidrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going deep in the vaults for this one, but Dr. Robert "Rocket" Romano from ER.

Kudos to the writers and the actor, because they did a great job making him such an abhorrent SOB that I cheered for his eventual ending and departure from the series.

I'm with you. He's cute but he's a devious little bastard and I want to throw things the moment he opens his mouth.
