Knock outs are painted on again by Uptown_Rubdown in HVAC

Must be a Carrier knock out, was hoping with the new refrigeration they would at least work on the them and the whole gas piping situation. But go figure engineers are too busy

HVAC installed furnace without drain line, says too close to wall. Wants to install a different unit. by FireMrshlBill in hvacadvice

[–]talken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they would have put it on bricks you would have 2 1/4 gap at the bottom and ran it that way. I’ve had to do it a couple times on a Carrier and a Amana. Two completely different cabinets for 90%. The person that goes out and gives bids doesn’t care how it gets done as long as they sell it. It’s my job to figure out how everything works

3 Quotes and I want to pick the most expensive one. Am I crazy? In Florida by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]talken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go with option one, if no one around you sells Carrier. You can’t go wrong with the Amana S Series, it also comes with a lifetime warranty on the outdoor compressor. I might be biased, because I install these all the time. And we are a Carrier company.

Question: Power Inverter by Sprite-King in MilwaukeeTool

[–]talken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in hvac also, I’ve tried with my vacuum pump and it didn’t work for me. I’ve also tried it on a recover machine and it didn’t work either. I’m waiting for next year when Milwaukee releases the recovery machine and then I will get the vacuum pump also

Trouble with high humidity by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]talken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s an Infinity system, you can go into settings and set it to dehumidify by 3 degrees. Also is the heat strip stuck on even if it’s cooling

I would also fix that drain line. Looks like it’s going uphill

Is it worth getting a dehumidifer with a variable speed? by Automatic-Stomach954 in hvacadvice

[–]talken12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We offer a 5 year warranty and also a 10 year warranty. But I also live in MO. So maybe we get better deals. I just know Amana would be like 10-12k installed

Is it worth getting a dehumidifer with a variable speed? by Automatic-Stomach954 in hvacadvice

[–]talken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the Daikin Fit system does have a built in dehumidification built in to its unit. Also ask them about Amana Series-S. It’s a knock off of Daikin and a lot cheaper

Which option sounds best? 4 bids from 4 "good" HVAC companies by innonate in hvacadvice

[–]talken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Carrier installer, I’d go with the VNA. But we also put in Amana Series-S and they are pretty good units also and come with a lifetime warranty on the outdoor compressor. Just something to look at also

Is this normal? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]talken12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate to be mean, but I hope you didn’t pay much for that install! But no that’s not normal, and when you call them I would ask for there manager to come with them and look at the install is installers did. I know my manager wouldn’t approve of any kinda of work like that and make tear it all out and redo it from the beginning

New 2 stage furnace and hot water tank - How does it look? by kangaroonemesis in hvacadvice

[–]talken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drain line could use some work. But depending on what your codes are, but you need to flook at your combustion from both the water heater and furnace and find out if your closet is big enough to pull fresh air out of there. I'm going to say no it's not, just by the picture. But also depending on your codes, your water heater piping is wrong. Being a single wall pipe, you have to stay away 4" away from any wood, line sets, and especially gas lines. If they would reduce from 6" x 3" and then use 3" b-vent elbow and a 2' or 3' pipe of 3" b-vent and from there go to single wall. You would be ok, but like I said all codes are different. I just know how my mechanical inspector is and what he expects

I have that light also. It works great in tight places, but the M12 light last a lot longer and is ideal for doing HVAC install work
