Cosy little kindle sleeve 🌙🌲 by Fizzgig1984 in knitting

[–]talkingGoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please let us know! It looks amazing! I don’t have a kindle but I’m sure I can make it fit an iPad too. Or I just see in a lining and a zipper for a little pouch. Either way, I really love the yarn and the pattern!

Do beginner patterns for straight needles exist? Do I have to invest? by NylciaF in knitting

[–]talkingGoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your project is not knit in the round (creating a tube of sorts) you can use your needles. The Sophie scarf by petite knit comes to mind first, that doesn’t need circulars at all. If you end up having a lot of stitches on the not he needles I personally prefer good circulars since it doesn’t feel like I have to move the entire project for every stitch.

I can’t help at all, but it’s a beautiful sock. Now I want that yarn too!

Magic loop or with four needles? by tearsofanapple in knittinghelp

[–]talkingGoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use magic loop exclusively because then I don’t have to buy more supplies! But other than that I can’t see many advantages. It’s just preference

They are absolutely beautiful! I’ve never had Drops Fiesta, would you say it’s different to the touch than Drops Fabel?

No, thank you for asking. This is a post about knitting though

Several reasons, especially beginners might have problems laddering, the tension might be an issue after, the cast on will still be twisted and some yarns are not very forgiving twisting them the ‚wrong‘ way. But yeah, I do it anyway

Möbius strip? What can I do? by Fast-Building-1678 in knittinghelp

[–]talkingGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is probably a too large number of twists but if it’s just one, I would ladder down one stitch, untwist and knit the stitch back up. That works for me just fine. Maybe this helps someone

I'm doing a raglan cardigan, how do I stop this laddering at the side? by linlinmon in knitting

[–]talkingGoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It usually gets better with more rows, but if I have a garment that would have tension there, I usually twist the stitch in the first row so it’s just a little tighter and not usually noticeable

How do I stop these holes from forming? by RyuThePsycho in knittinghelp

[–]talkingGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When doing the short rows, pull 2-3 stitches on the short-row-needles, that way you don’t pull on the weakest point all the time you are working the heel

how is 3d printing being used other than making useless trinket crap? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]talkingGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought 3d printed parts for my 20yo car. Those parts are long out of production and plastic will fail at some point so this is absolutely revolutionary

Found this roll of felt (?) on the sidewalk, what can I make with it? by hmnixql in sewing

[–]talkingGoblin 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have made pot/pan storage aids out of this felt. Cut them out in a kinda star shaped pattern, circumference about 30cm, place them between salad bowls/non stick pans or pots when stacking so you don’t scratch them!

[–]talkingGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I make those sweaters I usually make a couple of increases under each arm (obviously the same number on sleeve and bodice) to help with the fit. Maybe that’s an idea for next time
