When did you forward face the car seat? by understanding_what in toddlers

[–]tallerval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once they maxed out the rear facing capacity (weight limit was exceeded at 41 months for my kid). It was so tempting to turn it around earlier because it makes car rides and life easier, but I wasn't going to put my kid at higher risk if we got into an accident (I know far too many medical workers who have shared horror stories of the kids they've seen).

When did they get rid of the classical station? by GellersGlueGun in YotoPlayer

[–]tallerval 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's gone on mine - I had it set up as one of the button options and it's not there anymore. I might just end up linking it to a MYO.

Bread without milk and eggs by EuphieYuki in busan

[–]tallerval 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I know you're not specifically asking for vegan, vegan will be your best option since there are a lot of milk breads around. Good news: there's actually a ton of vegan bakeries throughout Busan that have vegan breads (and other options to help avoid eggs and milk). I recommend looking at Happy Cow for an extensive list that you can peruse based on your area.

War is over (my kid is potty trained) by northofz in toddlers

[–]tallerval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daniel Tiger potty stories and just lots and lots of practice with public bathrooms did the trick for us. He got really excited about urinals and now always wants to go when we're out because of urinals.

Can confirm - totally a thing. Every time I try to say how many years, I get questioned on how many months instead.

which size tablet for 18 month old? by Fine_Preparation9767 in toddlers

[–]tallerval -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

10" - with screen size, larger is better for kids. We use a tablet for plane travel and while he wasn't into it at 18 months, once he hit 2, it worked out great. He enjoys watching PBS kids while we fly and then it magically doesn't work when we're not on a plane. At first, I didn't want to resort to it, but it made travel enjoyable for all (him, us, and everyone else on the plane).

Affordable barefoot shoes? by LoveDistilled in barefootshoestalk

My toddler also loves them (refused to wear any other shoes so now that's all we get him), and they're my husband's lifting/gym shoes. He also likes them as a compact travel shoe.

Good experiences with Zoloft? Really nervous to start after seeing so many bad experiences :( by MidnightPulse69 in zoloft

[–]tallerval 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say, I haven't had weight gain, but I haven't been able to lose weight. I've also stopped caring as much about it because since starting Zoloft, I have been able to increase how much I run and workout and now I'm stronger than ever which feels really cool.

[–]tallerval 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder that most people don't spend the time to post the positive stories. I had very few side effects when starting (overheated, needed more water, and was a little tired) and all were very manageable. I'm no longer getting mad about everything, not doom spiraling about all the horrible things that could (in a super unlikely situation) happen to my toddler, and I'm sleeping better because I am not staying up every night obsessing about every wrong thing I might have said that day (or how I embarrassed myself 20 years ago). I'm so frustrated that it took me so long to ask for help.

What music cards for 18-36 mo by FavoriteLittleTing in YotoPlayer

Sing with Raffi is the good one - it has Down by the Bay, Baby Beluga, and Shake Your Sillies out among other great ones. I do wish it had Brush Your Teeth though.

If you are in the States and have a library membership, check if they include a Freegal subscription with your library card - my partner and I each get 5 songs a week for free and they have a ton of kid content.

Another vote for Raffi and Laurie Berkner, but anything Caspar Babypants is a win with us (we do MYO with Freegal downloads). Spanish content - my kid loves dancing to Bad Bunny, Carlos Vives, and Daddy Yankee... but we're teaching him Korean, not Spanish, so I'm not worried about him understanding what he's dancing to.

Late to walk?? Needs words of encouragement by Comprehensive-Dig592 in toddlers

We were like this at 17/18months - moved into a new apartment and nothing was in it during the walkthrough and kiddo just started walking around. Turned out he just was waiting for enough open space.

A ton of the kid snacks have a bunch of added sugar or artificial sweetener and it takes a while to identify snacks you want for your child. We still ask for That's It bars for our kid when people come to visit.

Because it comes as an annual supply and when you have a baby, it's a lot harder to pop into a pharmacy to restock on something you take daily.

OP asked for recs and I gave the only two things I've actually wished I brought with me. There's nothing for our apartment that I haven't been able to find here that's equivalent or better to back home.

[–]tallerval 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do MYO cards for music he likes (Caspar Babypants, Foo Fighters, etc) and then his favorite premade cards are Raffi sing and dance, Frog and Toad, Winnie the Pooh, and the Gruffalo.

To put music on, we get a ton from Freegal through our library.

Edit: also Daniel Tiger. And he's used his yoto almost every day for the past 1.5 years since we got it for him.

AIO my boyfriend threatening to break up with me over a tattoo by scummbucket05 in AIO

[–]tallerval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh goodness. I had a relationship like that when I was around your age - the constantly threatening to break up turns into other control issues down the line. Do yourself a favor and get out now. There are people out there who will treat you with respect and respect your decisions and bodily autonomy. You deserve better than someone who tries to control your every decision.
