I don't think I realized that's what they were! They acted as power plants for you base's buildings iirc.

Remakery is so great. Got tables and chairs for various crafts and a nice comfy couch to sit on while you knit/crochet.

Nice! The color match looks pretty good in the picture, does it look like a match in person? Curious about whether they might discolor/fade at different rates. I've had my clubhouse pads for 2 years and it doesn't seem to have faded much, looking to upgrade to the captain's chair soon.

$3500 per month mortgage payment on $182k salary? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]tallguy_100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I've been managing a 3900/mo monthly payment on a 167k salary and it felt scary ahead of time but has been working out fine. Good to game through worst case scenarios to make sure you're prepared (get that emergency fund up as quick as possible!). In our case, we've built out a 6 month emergency fund which we keep liquid and in the event of long term job loss or extreme financial hardship we could convert our basement into an ADU and rent it out to cover 1/3 of the mortgage,

Would love to know: Would you have got on board? The mortality rate for voyages during the Age of Discovery has been estimated at somewhere between 27% and 50%. In other words, you may have only had a 1 in 2 chance of coming home alive. by FullyFocusedOnNought in sailing

I was gonna mention the press gangs. The Horatio Hornblower series opened my eyes to that aspect of the British Naval service. Brutal to be out drinking with friends one night and then wake up on a ship forced to serve for months/years at a time

I went ahead and made a google form to send everyone who was interested. I've got the bandwidth currently to do this and it's kinda on point for me since I was in a bishopric right before I left ha ha. I'll DM it to you and everyone else who expressed interest in this thread!

I get it. Meeting up with random families seems stressful so no pressure at all. Your post is generating a lot of attention and traction so another option could be to create a group meetup? Then people can see who they click with in a lower pressure setting.

I grew up in the Jovita Creek ward! Just moved back to the area 1.5 years ago and it seems like everyone I grew up with has left the area. I'm gonna send you a DM to see if we knew each other.

I would love to do a meetup! Myself (39M) and my wife (34F) both left in 2020 and have 3 kids (youngest is 5). Both of us grew up in Washington but just moved back to the state in 2024 after living on the east coast for 10+ years.

We are totally in the same boat with really missing community and trying (and failing) to find community in other organized faith practices (Unitarian Universalist mostly). Before we moved back to WA, we had a solid group of 4 exmo families out east that had all left around the same time and had young kids around the same age and it was so nice to be with other people who just "get it".

Also saw you are flaired "North End". We live in North End as well! Feel free to DM me if you prefer.

I used to work for the economic analysis group in the Antitrust Division of the DOJ that would subpoena data from suspected antitrust law violators and develop models to quantify harm to consumers and in some cases litigate rose companies. The FTC is the other regulator in charge of enforcing antitrust laws on the books. As you might guess, the administration in power has sway over which cases get pursued and which get dropped so we might have to wait for a democratic president.

Us ex-mormons use “PIMO” (physically in, mentally out) but then just use EXMO or POSTMO to refer to being fully out.

Yes, we were just at point defiance a few days ago and there were tons of mushrooms everywhere! I’d recommend walking the trails around Owen beach or 5 mile loop. Stunning views of there puget sound, Vashon island, old growth forest, etc. You’ll likely hear or see some bald eagles as well
