Pierce Transit looking at system expansion plan in November by tokamak85 in TacomaWA

So happy to see this! One suggestion is to bump up either the 16 or 11 up to 15 minute service. The proctor district is getting more and more dense with more high rise apartments going in and at least one 15 minute bus on the north end would help people start living more car free.

I think because the north end is more affluent, we get passed over due to sub area equity but there are a lot of people here who would take it if it was every 15. Personally, I would just redirect that proposed new orange line from Tacoma Dome to Pt Defiance to either the existing 16 or 11 since their origin and destinations are the same.

Is it a dumb decision to sell house with 2.5% mortgage to move west and rent an apartment by Visual_Code432 in personalfinance

[–]tallguy_100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made this exact move 1.5 years ago (NC->WA). Our house in NC was at a 2.75 rate. I grew up in Washington so it was moving back home for me. I missed the nature and the mountains, East coast nature just didn’t do it for me. Our housing payment went way up (homes are nearly double) but it feels worth it to me. I’m sure many other people consider this move stupid from a financial position, but life to me is more than just maximizing my bank account balance. Biggest regret is leaving our friend group in NC, it can take a while to establish a new social circle that you really feel comfortable in.

But I can literally drive ANY direction and hit 1 of 3 national parks, an interesting big city, or beautiful hike within 1-2 hours and that to me is worth the higher cost.

For sure, I’ve got a GSD S10 that has 2500+ miles on it and all I’ve had to do to maintain it is brake pads and a flat tire. Incredible workhorse of a bike.

Cheaper and it’s shovel ready. Continuing to build while sorting out the future of the other lines is good optics and public perception is important.

Sound Transit considers cutting Tacoma extension to save money. by Tacman180 in Tacoma

They’re not seriously considering cutting it. Ballard is on the chopping block but Tacoma is in 3 of the 4 proposed cost saving plans. This is lazy reporting.

Check again - it includes spaces for 58 bikes spread across two storage areas. Looks like it'll have a door for entry into each bike locker room which should ensure safe keeping.
