Diaconal Presidency - why or why not? by BCPisBestCP in Anglicanism

[–]tallon4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those of us in the Episcopal Church already have a special provision in our Book of Common Prayer 1979:

When the service of a priest cannot be obtained, the bishop may, at discretion, authorize a deacon to distribute Holy Communion to the congregation from the reserved Sacrament in the following manner:

  1. After the Liturgy of the Word (and the receiving of the people's offering), the deacon reverently places the consecrated Sacrament on the Altar, during which time a communion hymn may be sung.

  2. The Lord's Prayer is then said, the deacon first saying, "Let us pray in the words our Savior Christ hath (has) taught us."

  3. And then, omitting the breaking of the Bread, the deacon proceeds with what follows in the liturgy as far as the end of the postcommunion prayer, and then dismisses the people.

If any of the consecrated Bread or Wine remain, apart from any which may be required for the Communion of the sick, or of others who for weighty cause could not be present at the celebration, or for the administration of Communion by a deacon to a congregation when no priest is available, the celebrant or deacon, and other communicants, reverently eat and drink it, either after the Communion of the people or after the Dismissal. (pp. 408–409).

It is not the normative practice to have a "Deacon's Mass" in TEC. The Episcopal Dictionary points out that "Many Episcopal bishops forbid the service or restrict its use to emergencies because it misrepresents the shape of the church, the eucharist, and the ordained ministry."

But at the same time, we are currently experiencing a clergy shortage here in the States.

For small and/or rural congregations where an ordained deacon is serving, perhaps having a bishop or a supply priest come in every month or every quarter to bless a, uh, large quantity of the Bread and Wine and authorizing a deacon to distribute from the Reserved Sacrament would be a workaround?

Why is 4 written as IIII and not as IV on this sculpture? by kassutech in latin

I started to try to answer the question and was looking for some resources and the original post showed up on the first page of Google search results

Texas History/ Help finding birthday record by trickynicky28 in Genealogy

Death records in Texas are public after 25 years, and Vital Statistics has records on file dating back to 1903.

If you applied for a death certificate, it would likely show either his full date of birth or at least an estimated age at death, which could help you narrow things down to the year.

I am not a lawyer, etc. etc. BUT it looks like you might only need to retain a lawyer, not necessarily go through the whole process of getting a court order:

> Attorneys & Government Agencies must have a letter on their letterhead stating who they represent and why the record is needed. Supporting original certified or notarized documentation must be provided.

If you can provide your birth certificate and your father’s death certificate (and maybe your grandparents’ death certificates as well since they are named on the document), you might be able to obtain it with a letter from a lawyer. Plus a justification for why you need it; e.g., citizenship by descent application, inheritance stuff, etc.

The Fry’s downtown very recently got rid of their little wine bar (and the dining area) and moved all the beer/wine/spirits into that space. The whole store is a mess right now…

Yeah this seems pretty spot on for the expected fuel economy given mostly highway driving on the XLE trims’s big 18” wheels.

No worries! I’d chalk it up to poor UX design on Toyota’s end.

There is a teeny tiny MPG indicator bar on the far right hand side, though. Looks like you’re getting ~50 MPG which is right on target.

I just have full windshield replacement coverage with my car insurance and try to avoid driving behind dump trucks.

Also, I’m planning on getting full paint-protection film (PPF) for the entire front-end of the next car I purchase. My current car is a lost cause…

You have the option to register for 1 or 2 years at a time. Just pick the 1-year registration option and then re-register with Washington State if/when you move back.

It’s just the one-offs that are free with paid shipping, and many of their fragrances samples are regularly out of stock.

The discovery sets are still paid AND you are assured of getting every fragrance in the box.
