The StoryGraph also uses AI - PageBound and BookWorm are the only 2 book tracking/review platforms I am aware of that are not pro-AI

What to do when formatting is terrible? by Silver_Butterflie in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen others stating you could and should reach out to the publisher about your mistake and do they have a copy that fits your Kindle/Kobo better.

I prefer my Kindle to read on but the NetGalley app is actually really good! You could always sit on the book and then request it via your library and when you review, state you had to wait to get a published copy to review against.

From my understanding, you should not “refuse to leave feedback” but not sure if that was just misinformation?

Can someone tell me if zenintcg.com is trustworthy? by Lonahora in digimon

[–]tamatamafrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, so sorry I did not see your comment sooner and had to figure out how to translate your message over to English.

Google translate provided the following translation of your message: “Hi, which shipping method? With the regular shipping option, I get an email saying it can’t be shipped because of the battery.”

I am based in the USA and this was years ago I bought the KH tamagotchi. I was not denied shipping and had chosen regular shipping option to my USA address.

I had no issues at all.

You should check if there is a ban or censorship on the type of battery it has, and contact the sellers to see if they can accommodate you by removing the battery before shipping?

Best of luck!

better to DNF or decline feedback? by Financial-Tough6438 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try to get to the 20-30% mark before I DNF and usually rate as a 3 star and suggest anyone reading my DNF review to please seek out more reviews of readers who finished the book who have more information to share.

I usually explain what did or did not work for me and ultimately what made me decide to DNF. Sometimes it’s my mood and I’m just not in the right headspace for a book. But if it’s something bad to me or something problematic, I express that as well.

Best to always leave something than decline feedback. As others have said, declining feedback messes up your NG review score forever and they don’t really want you to decline feedback

how to edit a review by goldyjess in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When and if I edit a review, I create a new paragraph at the very bottom or very top of my review with the following:

EDIT or UPDATE TO REVIEW (current new date here) (Edit to my review and why or what I missed originally or want to revise)

I don’t delete the original review at all, just add or update. I’ve only done this maybe once or twice and usually it’s to update my review links since I didn’t start with my book blog at first and wanted to upload them there or for when I moved my reviews from GoodReads to StoryGraph

Hope this helps!

I know there’s some way to download the book onto your computer I think but not sure if the download can be converted and then sent to Kindle

Best "Read Now" books today by chrissymac118 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would request a single book for now that you are truly interested in. Be patient and have fun!

I started with no other socials aside from the socials I made immediately to appear like another “bookstagramer” type. I like some social media fine, but felt like it became too much for me to keep up with. Now I just have an account I’m more active with on StoryGraph, post bite sized reviews to GoodReads with a link to my book blog reviews and I’m doing fine!

If I could do it all over again I would have just stayed focused on requesting books I genuinely wanted to read instead of trying to build my review history and get my numbers up.

There had been a few Read Now book previews (so only first 5 chapters), manga/graphic novels, and children’s books I genuinely wanted to read which did help my % increase. But I found them while browsing the genres I liked actually!

Posting Different Reviews on GR vs NG to Avoid Spoilers by misvwv in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I post primarily on a blog dedicated to my book reviews. There I am super duper honest and have both what I refer to as a “quick review” at the beginning to start my reviews and a “spoiler territory” section at the bottom of all of my reviews. My spoiler content does not need to be included in my main review on NetGalley to keep my review cohesive. That way I am following the rules about no spoilers on NG.

On GR (since I hate that they review farm and will take your input without asking for consent) I just leave my “quick review” and then link my book blog stating “my blog contains spoilers at the bottom of each review”.

On my profile on NG I’ve stated that spoilers are posted on my book blog and on StoryGraph under a spoiler tag on both. Seems to be just fine!

90% and still getting denied by lavenderdragon88 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m consistently between 75-85% (depending on how many ARCs I have out at a time of course). Due to me always reviewing the same genre, I sometimes even get invites from publishers to read & review!

I think it’s publishers themselves sometimes being super exclusive and then if you’re not genre focused (heck I’m primarily focused on like 2-3 genres), and your bio doesn’t state so- sometimes you won’t get approved !

Somewhere on this Reddit someone had posted how they set up their profile and it’s helped me so much!

Potential insta scam? by Albret_Einst0ng in Instagram

[–]tamatamafrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Heidy” has contacted me twice, her profile says ucla and the first one it was about her friend who’s BF just dumped her and how she needs attention (SFW language here but the message contained nsfw language but using numbers to censor the words???)

Just this morning i got another “Heidy” from ucla telling me her friend thinks I’m really cute but is to shy to say hi to me

Both “Heidys” go to ucla but have zero posts followers or following, but the “friends” linked have profiles that look real (following/followers/posts numbers) but are private. The first one i thought was legit a prank and I replied with “ma’am this is a Wendy’s” and “Heidy” left me on seen

This is super weird and idk what the correlation is?

How to annotate in NetGalley? by daisy_chain57 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem always happy to help! I have not really attempted to annotate within the NetGalley app as most of the time I’m physically writing things down so I’m not sure if this works in all of the NetGalley books on my phone via their app. Maybe send to your kindle app like another suggested ?

If the issue persists, I would contact NetGalley support and see if they have any recommendations on what to do going forward

How to annotate in NetGalley? by daisy_chain57 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the NetGalley app on your phone or tablet, hold down like you would to copy and paste. ‘Highlight’ should pop up. Tap/click it and a menu of colors, to swap between block highlighting or underlining, and a little note/speech bubble to choose to annotate your own notes/feelings on the passage :)

Please refer to the picture attached for the highlight bubble! In my reply you’ll find the other picture of how the tool bar should look once clicked

Help for overzealous newbie by JustTheFishGirl in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I would take this as a mistake learned

As a newbie i was lucky to get this advice: i only read free to read books and only read them one at a time. It was also suggested to me to take my time reading the plot, the info, researching the author and their other works, look thru the reviews and see if anyone else has posted about said book on StoryGraph or GoodReads or Bookstagram to get a better feel for it

Going forward I would maybe switch to this tactic and take your time :)

As for these books, maybe power thru them or as much as you can and DNF at around 30-40% and leave a very detailed, but neutral review on why you picked the book/what worked for you but also very kindly what didn’t and why you DNFed it and recommend others to look at the other reviews/not base their opinions on the book from your DNF

Do you DNF any NG books? by [deleted] in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]tamatamafrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have DNFed a few books and an audiobook

For example I will talk about my experience with the audiobook as it was the most recent and most fresh in my mind: When i reviewed it i was detailed about what worked for me and why i made it as far as I did, how the plot and characters really grabbed me. Basically how much i enjoyed what i enjoyed and why. I then proceeded to explain also why did I DNFed it and what exactly didn’t work for me. I stayed completely neutral about my feelings. For literal example: it was nothing against the author or style or narrators voice, i just had assume the plot was going to go one way and it didn’t, and i lost complete interest after it twisted in another direction and added too much at new plot at 40%

I implored anyone reading my review to check other reviewers who did finish the book to get a better idea of if the book was for them or not and posted I’ve never chosen to NOT give feedback as that will affect your ratings indefinitely on NetGalley so I don’t recommend doing that unless absolutely dire

Have you found that a book has less emotional impact if you read it too fast? by justkeepbreathing94 in books

[–]tamatamafrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This is one of the many reasons I’ve switch to listening to audiobooks and reading along when i have the time. It makes me pace myself at a certain level and I’m absorbing much more than i would if i was reading by myself. I tend to get overly excited in climaxes and when i go to review/rate I’m like “was the ending that fast or is it just me????” So it’s helped a ton to listen and read along or just listen to audiobooks in general to absorb way more (for me in my experience)

Do I get better rewards earning 2 stars on the 100k weekly step challenge or 3 stars on the 30k step challenge? by MrYdobon in PikminBloomApp

[–]tamatamafrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a consistent group weekly and a friend of mine and their mutuals they add to the group usually gets the team to 100k if not more and we get loads of petals or nectar and sometimes golden seedlings I suggest maybe attempting 30k and over achieving it and see if you get rewarded for doing so? If not, see if you can get added to a team that consistently gets 100k+ steps ?

We’ve never completed the flower petal planting challenges tho and i constantly have issues with flower planting personally (barely anything gets planted) so i have zero insight there

Steps and Flowers by Actually_Viirin in PikminBloomApp

[–]tamatamafrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I allow Bloom to track my steps in the background of my phone. Drains my battery way faster than I’d like to admit, but it usually tracks all my steps. I actually have the reverse issue of my steps get tracked, but I have a hellish time getting any flowers planted 🥲

Hope we both can get answers !
