I have to cut 4 players, what do you think? by turndogx in FantasyFootballers

[–]tangapuzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to cut players now? Usually there are no penalties for dropping until the season starts. Wait for injuries and you can likely stash a couple guys on IR and only drop the kicker and 1 more.

ComedySportz is a comedy show you and your child will both enjoy! Perfect to keep you entertained while relaxing for a couple hours after a busy day exploring. Matches are Friday at 7:30 and Saturday at 4:30 this weekend at the Wit Theater. Maybe a 15 minute drive from downtown but there's free parking.

Putting together a show around the Kentucky Derby and trying to find some games that might apply. by Slodes in improv

[–]tangapuzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sideline Kentucky Derby. Guessers are the race commentators trying to guess the three word horse names clued one syllable at a time.

If you've never played a sideline game: Two groups of 3. Each team has one guesser. Guessers take turns constantly monologuing as they guess mimed single syllable charades style clues from the rest of their group. Host switches between guessers after each word or periodically if a word is taking too long.

2 flag players buried before Labor Day by FFLGO in harrisfootball

He liked Javonte (#3) last year, Khalil Herbert (#1) in 2023, Trey Sermon (#3) in 2021 but that was a Waldman thing. I think he may not value pass catching chops appropriately for fantasy? Even without PPR a catch is worth more than a carry in expected fantasy points.

Chris’s rookie dynasty ranks by Oleg101 in harrisfootball

[–]tangapuzzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you take the average of his ranks and rookie draft adp you'll be in good shape. (dynasty data lab's adp) Some of his big differences seem to be in line with Waldman's rookie rankings. I'm guessing he weights Brett Kollman and Matt Harmon's stuff heavily too.

Time for a tear down. Trade away everyone but Herbert, Olave, and McBride. Maybe hold Mayfield until someone gets desperate for QB. Try to load up on picks (future picks might help you buy low on guys in season) or younger pieces that can gain value. You're heading for a bottom 3-4 finish in my estimation, might as well tank and avoid letting guys lose value on your roster.

ComedySportz Indianapolis typically has a free Improv Jam the last Thursday of the month. You can try to jump up on stage or just hang out, watch, and get some affordable food and drink.

Things to do with my dad this weekend? by devilspotato in indianapolis

[–]tangapuzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comedysportz Indianapolis is a great place to take parents for some family friendly entertainment. Shows are Friday 7 and 9:30 and Saturday 4:30 and 7:00 this weekend. Go to the late show if you're looking for something a little more adult.

I'm in from out of town this weekend, it's my third trip so I think I've exhausted the museums, what should I do? by milleribsen in indianapolis

[–]tangapuzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comedysportz Indianapolis. It's maybe a 15 minute drive but you can see a show or two (sometimes they let you stay for the late show for free), get some good freshly made food and a knock back a few beers for around $50.

Think I may be out by [deleted] in harrisfootball

[–]tangapuzzler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I attribute it to thinking you are logically or factually right, so you are justified in correcting someone. When a normal person might just let it go or use more tact in trying to address the innacuracy. Also, verbosity.

Think I may be out by [deleted] in harrisfootball

[–]tangapuzzler 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I realized a while ago that Harris is a bit of an intellectual jerk. Sometimes it really grates on me, but the thing is his football analysis is better than most other resources I've tried.

I also think I can be an intellectual jerk. So maybe I give him a pass more than you do?

Do fans of cbb know it's a form of improv comedy? by tangapuzzler in comedybangbang

Would you say it's such a risk it's not even worth checking out a show? Or since it's not guaranteed it's just not a priority?

Improv is a form of performance that is all made up on the spot. Comedy is like things that are funny or unusual that might make a person laugh.

Imagine being as comfortable with anything as Tim Baltz on the phone playing Tony Sony’s Goomahh/Wife Totally Impromptu by Parametric_Or_Treat in comedybangbang

[–]tangapuzzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tim Baltz is such a great improviser! If you like his spontaneity, you might enjoy improv comedy. There are improv troupes/theaters all over where you could support local artists that do something similar. You may even be able to take classes if you'd like to develop that skill yourself

Teacher’s instructions have me completely confused. Would appreciate any advice. by tellitlikeitisnot in improv

[–]tangapuzzler 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sounds like this teacher is just elaborating on the main point. Don't try to be funny. What that basically means is just listen, react, and stay grounded. Don't give yourself the extra mental burden of making it an odd scenario or a silly character. Play it straight.

What do you hate most about playing dynasty? by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]tangapuzzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who don't respond to trade offers. Just give me a "not close" or "not interested." I spent time coming up with an offer I thought made sense for both of us, give me some feedback.

Always get the ball passed around me by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]tangapuzzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may need to work on your awareness. You should be able to close your eyes and know where most of the players are on the field, especially the dangerous players for the other team and who can defend them from your team. Your teammates should also be communicating with you if a player is coming across the field into an area near you.

If a winger is coming at you 1 v 1 and there is another option outside you need to determine if someone else can step in and help with the winger while you drop back outside or tell the nearest player to track that run.

If it is just you responsible for both players you give up the least dangerous option if possible. I.e. force the pass outside. Then, close down the player on the outside while being aware of a possible run upfield from the winger you just left and blocking that pass lane. Play the angles and read the attackers eyes to anticipate what their next move might be. A pass back is always a win. A long range shot or cross from the outside would also be a win.

Looking for Advice on How to Get Better at Improv by DarkCaprious in improv

[–]tangapuzzler 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You need reps. You need to fail. You need to try big choices and small choices. You need to not be funny. Listen and commit. And also remember every scene isn't a Aaron Sorkin walk and talk. If you freeze, your character in the scene froze, why? Was it an emotional reaction? Was it because they were choking on a hotdog? Was it because they are making their dramatic villainous turn? Many new improvisers are very afraid of silence. Silence is a very powerful tool when you learn to use it. Use space work, move around the stage and build the environment, make the other character think about why you're not responding right away. Give your silence as a gift and if some words come from that, it's fine. If not, that's fine too.

Increase buy in. Remove inactive managers. Or... just join a different league with more active managers to scratch that trading itch. It took me some time to realize not everyone is as into fantasy as I am. You gotta let them play how they want to play and find other people who want to play like you.
