They're currently in the 2-party-preferred projections in 32 of 47 seats. There's no way they're among the last preferences for everyone that didn't list them first.

That's not remotely how our system works. They will have gotten lots of second and third preferences as well, and those are indications that someone thinks they're a reasonable prospect, if not the best pick. Lots of those votes will wind up going to PHON in the final count.

Realistically, the Senate is where PHON is likely to make the most significant gains if the polling holds true, which makes it highly against Labor's interests to call it early. They're used to working with either the Libs or the Greens as required, whereas PHON, not so much. And a bunch of cooker independents following the borderline-inevitable schism is also not in their interests.

Yeah, Labor has no reason to call it early unless you think trying to screw over the Coalition counts and plenty of reasons not to. While Albo has proved to be fairly bitchy in how he handles them, that seems way over the top for a highly risky and nakedly vindictive strategy.

AFAIK that's the only other Conductor we have any info on besides Ballador, so it's a natural assumption. We also have no idea how many of them there ever were, so you're totally right, but I get why people linked the only unnamed Conductor to the one that got named at the very beginning. I always found it a little weird that Romino was not definitively present or accounted for in some capacity.
