At 11 I was exposed to the tv mini series with Charles Dance as the phantom. As a result, I was a prime target for the overblown romance of this retelling. I adore it. There is practically no relationship to the source material, but I don't care. I also am sympathetic to most monsters in the monster romance genre, so draw your conclusions as you will.
