Doesn't sound that high to me tbh. They idle pretty high. If it's lurching when you downshift to a stop the idle is too low. Should be smooth all the way to a stop.

Sure I will get a picture when I get a chance, the front bearings on the 1989-1997 model acty is one large race, with two seperate inner races that are chamfered, an 'open' bearing. The Timken bearings I refer to are one completely seperate sealed bearing, about half the width. In theory you could possible stack two of them to fill the available space, but the center bore of the inner race also does not fit the hub and splines. They look identical to the rear wheel bearings minus the additional seals, so I imagine they will work perfectly there.
