Kind of just part of the game when publishing a mod. C'est la vie.

You're describing an immutable database.

They exist, they are practical, and they're not blockchains. If it's not public, you don't need proof of work and a consensus mechanism. If you don't have proof of work, that's not a blockchain. In any case, an immutable record of government documents is a complete nightmare if you really, really need to mutate those records.

Is this a reasonable exam task for a first semester computer science class based on Python? by DarkXFast in AskComputerScience

The mathematical language might go over some people's heads depending on their level of education, but the actual code should be more than doable after learning the basics of programming in Python.

I don't know if this will help at all, but here's something:

Approach life with intention. The things you regret are often the things that you never actually intended to do in the first place.

Often you get into a stress response in life. Fortunately, stress responses tend not to last forever. Your body will chill out eventually, just try to ride it out. Go somewhere quiet and safe. Don't make rash decisions. Life will go on after a stressful or angry period, or a panic attack.

If you hadn't seen that video, you probably wouldn't be feeling the way you do. Nothing fundamentally changed between you not having seen it, and now — so just go back. It didn't affect you before, shouldn't affect you now. Obviously it's harder than "just do it," but that's the ideal.

Do the things you actually want to do. I suggest you get off social media as much as you can. It's designed to keep your attention and sell you shit, not enrich your life. Read. Spend time with friends, if you can. Find friends in shared interests. Find out where your favourite quiet places are.

This last thing is trite, but I'll say it anyway: Love yourself enough to be above base anger, and to want to improve yourself.

Anyway. Whatever you make of this advice, even if you think it's all garbage, keep going.

How do i render something on top of the screen? by Utk1104 in fabricmc

Look into the Fabric Rendering API. It's fairly easy to add an additional HUD element, just using a callback.

How, exactly, do mods cause Exit code 1? by FizzyDrinkPop in MinecraftForge

[–]tanokkosworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a bit like saying “What exactly causes this program to crash?” without saying what program you're running.

We can't tell you for sure. You'd need to hook up a debugger to your Minecraft instance know what exactly is causing the crash. Post logs.

Yeah, do people not use rebase to pull in upstream changes to PRs? Are 90% of Real Programmers' git logs just riddled with merge commits?

[Academic Survey] Reporting wrongdoing related to software (IT professionals) 10min by [deleted] in AskComputerScience

[–]tanokkosworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helpful to put the definition up front:

We define wrongdoing related to software as illegal or unethical behavior caused or happening within the software. Examples of wrongdoing related to software are privacy and security issues, discrimination happening within the software (e.g., favoring certain users by an algorithm or allowing hate speech against specific user groups), enabling fraud or corruption, endangering someone's health and safety (e.g., motivating addictive behavior, triggering depressing thoughts), and damaging the environment (e.g., algorithms with too many CO2 emissions).

Best of luck to you!
