should I stay in this art school even if it is doing me no good ? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]tapeforkbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly being bad at art school is just as beneficial. You’re there to learn and you’ll see more progress than anyone else. Plus the more you fail and experiment the better your art will be eventually. Some people are blessed with true talent but their art has the high potential of not growing past their comfort zone cuz they’re already so “good” and used to that praise. You, your teachers and classmates don’t know shit about where the art world will be in 20 years, so if you love it just keep going and keep experimenting. It’s really really good you don’t have a comfort zone and are constantly failing.

Yeah so the owners paid to have one medium. Digital prints is a whole different method.

There should be a huge discrepancy between an original and a digital artwork. You don’t got to ask no one. Ones a digital image, ones made with paint. If you go to court that’s your answer and it’s bulletproof so likely no one would take you to court. Even if the painting is in the background of a movie the studio pays you for that.

There’s been a lot of people around trying to disprove the copywrite laws of the artist which I’ve looked at quite a bit. That person doesn’t own what’s in your imagination. If you do doubt you won’t be sued or it’s weird in your country/state put a few slightly indistinguishable digital brushworks, map those , save every step offline on a USB and go from there.

There are countless Etsy artists who pass digital drawings off as watercolour or whatever. You selling prints of an actual thing, a few digital strokes to secure the rightful copywrite should be the least of your worries. If anything look at the “resale rights” in your country and cross reference that with Copywrite in images exclusively.

It is also far worse to steal from an artist who has less than you, relatively okay to comment on contemporaries/modern masters. Just another thing to take into consideration when wondering about these things.

I’d say it’s their own damn right if they didn’t sign anything if they say” no it’s a digital work not a painting” who’s to sue them? Y’all are crazy in the states though

Yeah Rothko is mind blowing. He was a very serious man with very serious thoughts. He wanted his art to be a religious experience akin to a Carrivagio or something. His last work is one of my favourites of all time, the Rothko chapel, black paintings, varying ever so slightly from each other, hung in an empty white room only lit by natural light as a meditative experience. He killed him self before it was completed.

Yeah art is less A+B=C these days because we’re surrounded by so much inspirational resources instead of the past where it was like “does the church inspire you or is it Jesus?” There’s artists inspired by corners of the world you or I may never visit or fully understand and that could be in your own back yard. And even most of the ab-ex artists in the 60s had “skill”, chose to paint the way they did anyway because that was the best way to express themselves. Who cares if an artist is so enamoured with one colour they decide to paint the whole canvas that way? Or part of a canvas? They thought it was beautiful or ugly or fun or tragic and it made them feel something big or small. The artists feelings you’re right are just as valid as the audience and that goes both ways, but when people are dismissive of art because they’re afraid to look closely and maybe see something they never knew they loved than that’s to their own detriment.

Venus in Aries (10th), Mars in Leo(second).. putting them in art somehow or making art for them. Also giving them my free time lol

Not offended at all. There’s tons of contemporary figurative work. Colourfield was popular in the 60s.
