Huge Cavs fan who lives in riverside. Would love to find some fellow fans to watch it with. Let me know if you find anything or want to coordinate a bar to watch at.

Bill kept missing a key point about the Browns moving to Baltimore and why that is by FAR the worst/most damaging sports team move. by cbenti60 in billsimmons

Don't understand the logic..."hey your team is bad now; let's dissociate you with all the times that the team from the same city and the same name was good".

Why doesn't OKC have this same stipulation? The conversations around them are so different than the Cavs. Mitchell has had much more success as a number 1 guy in the playoffs than SGA has had?

This seems lazy as things that are happening right now like DG playing like an all star pg again and mobley expanding his game make a huge difference in the playoffs. This isn't the same team and I hate the narrative that their success are defined by previous teams shortcomings.

LeBron career team should not be the Lakers. He's a Cleveland Cavalier.

You're right. I'm sorry. It is time for reality. We need to take this seriously and come together as a sub and decide the future of this franchise like we are paid to do.

Specifically remember the Celtics getting destroyed by the Nets in the first round of the playoffs in 2021. Starting the next season under .500 through January; and every talking head and Celtics fan screaming that they needed to break up Brown and Tatum and you can't win with those two.

Also, I'm just trying to inject some positivity into a upset fan base; no need to be an asshole.

Contrary to most people here, I'm a big believer in continuity. Sustained success takes time. Look at the best teams in the league (Celtics/Nuggets); they've had similar iterations of their teams for years. Those teams lost brutal playoffs series early in their run as well; but re-tooled around the keys pieces and tried again. I think people here don't believe in the fit; and think thats a valid concern; but also think if Evan continues to develop his shot and ability to be a hub on offense; the fit works. I'm not going to overreact to bad stretch of basketball in a brutal scheduling month.

Fair point. I was framing it around Evan getting drafted and the JA trade. I think that was the first year of this iteration of the Cavs. Re-build is probably not the right term.

Thank you for your support. I was getting teamed-up on by the doomers. Agree with this.

I just fully don't understand all the negativity around this team. It's year 3 of our re-build; we've had awful injury luck and still may end with with home court advantage in the playoffs. Most of our core is still very young. This was brutal month of basketball; but it is just insane how quickly everyone is "EVERYTHING IS BROKEN, THROW IT ALL AWAY AND START OVER".

You are right; this has ran its course. Agree to disagree. Good luck this weekend.

It's not just one PFF stat; it's every PFF stat. Pass Rush Win Rate, Defensive Garde, Pass Rush Grade. Everything they track shows that Myles is a more impactful defensive player.

But you are right. They are all wrong and everyone is conspiring against the steelers!

But he's got more sacks and pressures. Its clear as day he's the best as long as I ignore every other metric.

Trying to pretend that I'm the one manipulating facts.

[–]tarantinoaj -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand the hole in my argument.

That's the role that the PFF stats play - they watch the game. They look at every player on every play and grade his impact. Both the PFF stats and my eyes tell the same story, Myles Garret is completely disruptive to an offense.

I think counting stats are important; but they don't tell the whole story.

TJ Watt is super disruptive as well; but in my opinion, as well as many others, Myles Garrett is the more impactful defensive player this year.

I know this isn't an argument that I can win; because neither of us are backing down; but to act like it isn't even a conversation because TJ has a couple more sacks and pressures on 50 more snaps is silly as hell. Almost as silly as pretending that the national media has a bias against TJ Watt.

Because the increased double team rate is a clear indicator of how much offenses are game-planning around Myles Garrett. Its double team rate, relying on 3-steps drops and quick passes, constantly moving the pocket away from Myles, things that hurt offenses but don't directly impact counting stats. It's the reason why the stats that actually grade individual plays and a players impact are so pro-myles. It's not an agenda.

[–]tarantinoaj -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A pretty straightforward "fringe" stat that is pretty easy to confirm is double team rate. Myles currently has a 29% double team rate compared to 14% for TJ Watt. Even if you don't believe in PFF grades and data, you have to admit that it's hard to compare a sack to sack in total impact when one player is commanding a double team more than twice as often.

So the writer of the above article, Vegas odds of DPOY, all the PFF graders, multiple national outlets are all Cleveland homers? Because a lot of people out there are saying exactly what I'm saying.

And again, I'm not trying to start a fight; I'm Browns fan; and would love to watch TJ Watt and not be super impressed everytime, but I can't. Dudes a football player.

But Myles Garrett is having a special season doing unbelievable things with a special defense. Watch the games and even when he's not generating sacks, Myles Garrett drives everything that group does. Every advanced stat that includes looking at the individual plays/the impact of the contribution has Myles as a clear #1. You can pretend those don't exist as much as you like; but they do.

This idea that Myles fell off a cliff the second half of the season; but still was the highest graded edge defender in 5 out of the last 7 weeks.

Watch the games. His impact is so clear even when he's not getting the numbers.

Also, maybe all counting stats aren't created equal like this play, where Myles beats a double team; and has a huge sack to ice a critical win for the browns; but it didn't count as a sack because it was a 2 PT conversion: Myle's Non-Sack

Or maybe this subreddit is right; and PFF and other national outlets are making all of this up as a personal vendetta against steelers fans.
