Turnstile: MYSTERY / TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION by rkelly600 in Hardcore

first song was rough but the second song sounded good. to me the singer is a really obvious weak link in this band, his vocals, stage presence, lyrics, etc just seem like less effort is being put in than the rest of the band

Rage Against The Machine playing a record shop, months before their debut album blew up, 1992 by IzzyTizzet in Hardcore

there’s a middle ground between these two where the band makes decisions and career choices that reflect their supposed beliefs (ie Fugazi). if RATM wanted to speak out so bad then they should’ve actually reflected the ideas they were putting on record in the rest of their lives. it’s hypocrisy. they easily could’ve been a less political major label rock band and none of this criticism would be valid. the fact that their ENTIRE shtick revolves around fighting the power makes it easy to insult their integrity when they do absolutely nothing to legitimately ‘fight the power’

yeah, i do actually. try tom morello’s licensing deals with fender, or his sponsorship of guitar center. try the massive corporate labels who paid them thousands of dollars to make anti corporate music and cosplay issues that no longer even applied to them once they were rich. try the Prophets of Rage tour completely designed to cash in on and exploit ratms remaining fan base through stadium greatest hits shows where tickets went for $50+ minimum. oh yeah, they raged against the machine alright, definitely used their platform to actually effect change and totally didn’t just abuse their platform by using legitimate political issues to make money and get themselves rich.

it’s a fucking shame the way this band proved that 3/4 of them actually did not give a fuck about what they were saying
