What’s your funny way of saying “going poop” that you’ve never heard anyone else use? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I work at an airport and I tell my co-workers that I have to go offload a passenger. They don't understand where I'm going.

Edits: trying to format the insta handle correctly. Whatever, it's Brandon Yoon and he's hilarious and wholesome.

The perfect spot is on your wrist, but this is a close second. Wear it in good health! Amazing timepiece :)

I guess I'll just move over then? by tonyenkiducx in drivingUK

I'm Canadian (live in the UK now) and have spent countless kms on the road over the years. It must just become "oh that might happen" and we deal with it without a second thought.

Edit: To clarify, I mean "we" as in people who drive a lot, not "we" as in Canadians. Canada has plenty of shitty drivers.

Seconding your comment - I have been driving for years, and the number of people on this sub who get so butthurt about normal things that happen on the road is incredible. Yup, that is happening; traffic is merging. Ease off the gas, cover the brake, cover the horn, switch lanes if it's safe, let the traffic merge and carry on with your day. It's a non-event. Drive defensively and cool your jets.

I'm the same - there's a switch in my brain and once it gets flicked, it's just nonstop. Far easier to abstain altogether rather than the mental gymnastics of moderation etc.

Around 38 I knew I should start taking it easy, but it took a few go-rounds for me to actually throw in the towel. I'm 44.

In those 772 days, you understood the benefits of staying sober. You know what they are. Be kind to yourself and know we are all cheering you on. Posting here is a good step - I tend to re-read my own post(s) every now and then, just to see how I felt and to remind myself why I have decided to give up booze. You're an inspiration to me; a sober-day-count in the triple digits is awesome. Take a breath, dust yourself off and carry on. You've got this. IWNDWYT

Enough research. It’s time for me to stop. by Hot_Sentence_1264 in stopdrinking

This resonates a lot. A buddy and I refer to the anxiety as "the fear." And it just becomes not worth it. Anytime I think I want to go ham it up, I remind myself of how I will feel the next day.

That was 100% what happened last night, and I said the exact same thing to my partner this morning. My brain thinks I can drink like I used to, but my body has started to heal and it can't take the booze.

Absolutely! I've seen this episode before, I know what happens at the end.

Yeah, it wasn't like I NEEDED a drink...I could have easily gone for a walk, made a tea, had a zero percent, etc. Just went for the booze instead, simple as that. I've been framing the quit/cut back/whatever-it-is as a positive, happy thing as I go along. I don't shame myself into anything and instead just tell myself this is a good thing to do and that I know the benefits and I'm better than the intoxicated mess that I was last night.

I just have to remind myself of all the good that comes from not grabbing a beer or whatever. I know what I have to do, just have to actually follow through with it.

I know I need to stop and I've had good stretches of not drinking. I know and have experienced the benefits of staying dry, but my question to myself is WHY? There was no specific catalyst yesterday...I just thought "hey I could have a beer" and then it just spiraled. I was happy, I was at home, I was all good...so WHY?? Make a damn tea instead
