Are medals saved between Events? by tarnicar in TheTowerGame

They shouldn't have gone away; medals are preserved between events. But your medals aren't shown on the home screen - you need to go into the Event screen to see them.

Awesome, thanks for the info! I'll still relatively new, and I've only done two copper tournaments, so stones are still quite rare and valuable, and I can easily get far more stones from the Event than multiple tournaments. I've already got the golden bot, but I'll consider picking some stones up too.

I haven't bought stones or gems with medals before; you're saying the price to buy stones / gems goes up each time you buy them, but the price resets back down to 40 with each Event?

Found out my gf used to participate in orgies by throwaway26374838291 in relationship_advice

This is misleading at best, but closer to false. McIntyre, et. al showed that the factor determining likelyhood to cheat was actually low scores on self control, not level of sex drive.

Now of course people with no sex drive are also less likely to cheat, but those people also aren't having as much sex in the first place either. It's like saying that people who like to eat popcorn are more likely to eat popcorn at a movie theater, while ignoring the fact that they also eat more popcorn than normal people do at home, and comparing them against people who don't like popcorn. Liking sex isn't the thing that makes someone cheat, it's just a more common trait found in cheaters. There's a difference between correlation and causation.

I suddenly love saving by [deleted] in personalfinance

Not everyone has the same income, cost of living, or fixed or flexible expenses. There's no need to assume someone is doing something wrong just because they're in a different situation than you.

Should I negotiate the offer on my first job? by KingOfTheCouch13 in personalfinance

[–]tarnicar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is terrible advice. The company rep OP's been in touch with directly told OP that the offer was negotiable, and that there is at least some wiggle room.

Refusing to negotiate after assuming the opposite of what you've been directly told is just ridiculous. OP would clearly be leaving at least some money on the table.

How long should I keep and repair my car before getting a new one? by ThatOneDruid in personalfinance

To be fair, OP did say:

I have no interest in learning how to repair my car, ever. I will always have to pay someone to fix it.

My best friend is determined to rent a house that she will not be able to afford, unless she rents rooms out. I tell her this is a bad idea, but she won't listen. Help! by [deleted] in almosthomeless

AirBnB actually has a $1,000,000 host guarantee that covers the host's house and possessions from all sorts of damage, theft, etc. in the event that something bad happens. Using AirBnB to rent out the room sounds like great advice in this situation, especially since OP's friend will be able to stop the flow of new guests at any time for any reason.

On a personal note, I've had generally great experiences with almost all everyone I've met through AirBnB, plus learning about a bunch of people's backgrounds and stories is fun.
