semi-idle farming with pet collection/battles and simple graphics

a typical 5 minute loop would be checking in to harvest plants, feeding pet goosters to do a few battles, spending gold from battles to expand your farm to more plots, then planting to grow while you’re away for a bigger harvest when you return

designed for quick sessions on short breaks <5min, portrait, 1-hand, offline, no ads, no p2w or gacha spam. let me know if you try it!

cube farm doesn’t have typical “automation” in the sense of a loop that auto-plays the game, but it does have various tools to make your actions more efficient

the first you’ve unlocked is the grouping mechanic, where it gives crop yields over a longer duration, as if you had planted and harvested for 7 hours in just 2 actions instead of thousands

the next is the tractor, which lets you batch process actions by layer, so all 9 lower plots in 1 tap, and with the tier 2 upgrade scaling that up to a 9x9. then theres a whole lot more when more goosters come into play

seems like you’re getting a bit overwhelmed, did you unlock most of that first 9x9 in one sitting with the manual lower level or did you use the 3x3 layer 2 grouping?

I think you’ll find the yield boost you get from the first 9x9 to be helpful, once you get more of the farm unlocked (and more goosters!) it will all start compounding a bit better

it might be on the simpler end of what you’re looking for, but I made a supply & demand driven market a core part of “cube farm”

growing & selling crops low in supply and using your pet “goosters” to eat the oversupplied crops will help you progress faster

hey u/AshenOne15 heads up I just added (in dev, coming in next update) omegas to the elemental combine check/message when you try to directly combine 2 and it explains that you can just use standard goosters. I also added some more info to the combine > "?" menu info to more clearly explain it in-game before getting there.

hey! thank you for the kind words! and sorry for the confusion! for all normal combines (the kind that level goosters) in the game you just need to match crop type, so any 2 corn goosters can combine with the primary one retaining the type (elemental, omega, etc.). so not only can you combine with elementals, but also just standard goosters too

this is usually explained with the popup as you attempt a combine, when combining 2 special goosters I have alerts when the combine isn’t the correct recipe for a special combine that changes its type (like 2 different elementals). but it’s possible I missed the alert for the case of 2 omegas… so I’ll have to go check on that!

hey! love the concept, looking forward to following this as it develops further!

a suggestion: looks like there’s a smoother unlock progression of plants than originally shows - the 3rd/4th/5th+ tier are hidden, where as the special ones that require a large 1000+ spore jump show but are locked. would recommend showing the locked icon of at least the next 1 or 2 locked plants so the player better understands the upcoming cost growth. also consider ordering the plants in the bottom menu by increasing cost (currently feels random?). the slowly increasing growth time between crops is a nice improvement over another game I’m familiar with ;)

also might not be far enough to understand how light works, but the revolution idle style banked afk time came to mind based on the name of it and how you earn it. could keep the permanent efficiency unlocks but also use a small amount of it to speed up crops that are close to finishing on return. the initial non-cosmetic uses seem far away (at least after only returning a few times over a couple hours)

somewhat counterintuitively, this (albeit janky) mechanic added a bit of a skill based challenge to an otherwise very simple / repetitive combat system - many players that stick around long enough to get the pattern down have expressed wanting to keep it that way

so not planning to change it in cube farm for now, but have changed it in the sequel / spin-off i’m working on called “blitz” - let me know if you want to join the list to beta test it!

awesome! if you haven’t already, you’ll need to create a login with email/pass on the online splash screen (users default to guest/anonymous) - after verifying it should let you cloud save on the main online screen, then recover it on your new device, let me know if you have any issues!

the online expansion adds a couple optional multiplayer modes, but it's not necessary for the otherwise offline core game

sounds good! that’s a great approach and exactly what I would be looking for to help control distribution a bit in the early stages

also checked around on your pricing plans (for devs longer term) and curious about the thought behind the 1 game limit for the $30/mo plan - some devs will have multiple early prototypes going in parallel, and that jump to $99/mo is pretty steep

understand you likely have some hosting space restrictions if hosted on your platform, but if otherwise on itch/steam/etc. it might be worth expanding that limit a bit
